That burger looks fantastic. Where's it from?

ScottFW 01-03-2011 05:02 PM

Elevation Burger.
Brain really is eating like a king. Wifey and I went there a couple months ago, and we each had a burger, fries and a soft drink and the tab came to something like $24. I mean, the food was pretty good but I don't know if it was twenty-four-dollars-good.

Braineack 01-03-2011 05:06 PM

yeah that lunch wasnt cheap.

JasonC SBB 01-03-2011 05:15 PM

Geez, the only time I had crackers and bagged pretzels and pepsi for lunch in like maybe 20 years, was when I was recovering from food poisoning 2 days ago.

I guess that's the good thing about packaged processed junk food, you can never get food poisoning from them!

99mx5 01-03-2011 05:20 PM

Ugh! Sam Adams Octoberfest... At least it's better than Beck's Octoberfest.

My Elevation Burger experience is best summed up by Vincent in Pulp Fiction, and I quote:
"God damn, this is a pretty fuckin good milkshake. I don't know if it's worth five dollars, but it's pretty fuckin good."

While drunkish, I tried some gourmet shit cat food. It wasn't all that bad :giggle:
I'm about to have some pasta for breakfast now. I'm a bit low on cash so I'll go out and see if there's a sale on cat food somewhere.

I was leftover from thanksgiving. I didnt buy it, but I dranks it. I would have preferred a Boylan's Birch Beer.

miata2fast 01-04-2011 08:34 AM

After a 9 mile hike, and decided I needed some sushi.

40 dollars later, I ended up eating a half a carton of cookies and 2 glasses of milk when I got home.

I should have hit Wendy's instead of the sushi. It would have been 32 dollars cheaper, and probably healthier after factoring in the cookie fiasco.

Dinner last night. Duck consommé, foie gras, caramalized sea scallops with asparagus and some kind of little pearl pasta with shredded sun-dried tomatoes, and a cream cake soaked in amaretto.

Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of lunch. Hell, even in the crew's mess they're dishing up some remarkably good chow. Today was lamb curry over rice, grilled vegetables, and a sort of creamy pasta thing. Not nearly as fancy on the presentation, but filling and yummy.

ScottFW 01-07-2011 03:17 PM

Today my lunch consisted of Saltines and Pedialyte. I caught a touch of food poisoning last night. :barf:

I want to dine with Joe.

There's a restaurant in Chicago that is supposed to be exceptional. No menu, you sit in the kitchen, and the chef brings you food. Unfortunately it is about $800 for two people with wine. I'm going to make this a vacation.
I have an Italy trip this year. (first time to Europe, yay) I could care less about museums. I want an insane food experience.

NA6C-Guy 01-08-2011 01:07 AM

I quite enjoyed NYC for the food. I plan to go back when I can devote more time and money to food, and not wedding bullshit.

There is no better food than sushi though. I'm absolutely addicted to this one place near my work that has a crawfish and cilantro roll topped with ahi tuna. If it wasn't $2 a roll, I would eat there several times a week and bring some home, but it's so damn expensive! Just two orders for myself (12 rolls) ends up being nearly $30.

Wo Hoo! We finally got the satellite link working today, so I've managed to pirate some bandwidth from the radio studios and get my MT fix.

The past few days have been killing me...

Dinner on Friday: pomegranate-glazed duck breast, some very rich cream soup, and baked salmon over asparagus topped with caviar and some kind of pate. The duck:

http://img37.imagefra.me/i519/thradd..._995_u77ts.jpg

Dinner on Saturday: wild mushroom risotto, another confoundingly rich cream soup, and veal prepared three ways. Notice how they lay out the plates such that they form the iconic image:

http://img37.imagefra.me/i519/thradd..._0cd_u77ts.jpg

Breakfast this morning. Eggs benedict, a bunch of different pork products, three kinds of lox / smoked salmon...

http://img40.imagefra.me/i519/thradd..._e30_u77ts.jpg

I couldn't deal with it anymore. Dinner tonight was a burger and fries on the top deck.

And there's still another week of this to go before I'm back on land. :D

Oscar 01-09-2011 10:07 PM

Fuck. You.

I had a sandwich.

In all seriousness, I'm not used to this kind of rich food- dinner for me is usually just turkey sandwich and some fruit or maybe just a bowl of cereal. I find that I have been farting quite a great deal more than is customary, which is not a good thing given that I spend most of the day working in a fairly small compartment with several other people.

I'm not cut out for this lifestyle.

:fawk: Uh, yeah. Just a few little wieners in my mouth. No big deal. I've offset it with the vast amounts of fluids I've been drinking. I've gone through a 24 pack of water in 2 days. Along with a gallon jug of cranberry juice and about a half gallon of apple juice.
