I bought an sacd player specifically for Dark Side of The Moon. It is the best piece of 5.1 goodness that has ever emanated from my speakers.

Sucks, don't it? Still, since I stopped smoking I have more energy, more motivation, better concentration and just all around better memory recall. They say it doesn't effect you, but... Then again, I was blowing an ounce a month, maybe more. Saved a fuckton of money too.

SACD? What's that?

Best 'Floyd albums, in order:
-Dark Side of the Moon
-Wish You Were Here
-The Wall (Saw Roger Waters live in Kansas City this past fall )

SACD - Super Audio CD.

Before they were doing music on DVDs they came up with this format. Re-mixed for 5.1. Pretty damn awesome.

I have never listened to a Pink Floyd album, maybe I should try one one day.

Understand that Floyd ran for about 30 years, and spanned a pretty wild range of musical styles, musicians, and psychedelic drugs. Some of their albums I just can't stand, others are bathed in pure awesome.

For a beginner, I would seriously recommend starting with the film "The Wall." It's sufficiently common that you should be able to get the DVD from Netflix or any decent rental place. Or if you're attuned to bittorrent, I'm certain it's available there.

It also makes good background noise on long drives....rather hypnotizing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Providence, Moya, Storm, Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls....hell that's like 2 hours of music in 5 tracks lol. Now imaging listening to it after hitting a bowl...

Damn it. I just fucked my right hand reaching into my computer case and accidentally shoved my index finger and thumb into a 3000rpm Scythe ultra kaze fan. Nice big blood blister on the tip of my finger and a gash and fuxxored nail on the thumb. I guess I'm retarded. Maybe I will still be able to out bowl everyone this Sunday as I usually do. And my ******* job requires extensive use of my hands, so I'll have to be a man about it.

This. The first Pink Floyd album I listened to was The Wall. I couldn't stand any of the other ones, but after listening to it 6 or 7 hundred times I developed a taste for Wish You Were Here, then Dark Side of the Moon.

EDIT: Also note that 'Floyd is a developed taste. I didn't like it until I listened to it a few times and actually listened to it.

Yeah, it's sort of a gateway album.

And I'm serious, incidentally, about starting with the film rather than the album. The music is great, but it's also visually quite fascinating. Helps to draw you in and keep your attention, even if the music isn't quite your thing right off the bat. The Wall was actually the very first Laserdisc which I purchased way back when. I've still got it (and the player.)

And I verified that Netflix has it: http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Pink-Fl...r&trkid=222336

So should I go explore the cow fields out near my house and see if I can find any yummy edibles first before watching "The Wall"?

I'm the other way around. I liked it at first, but after hearing it all so many times I now cannot stand them.

I started to type a punny comeback involving Pink Floyd album names, but I stopped and realized how wrong what you just said sounds.

This is all new to me. If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have your pudding if you don't eat your meat???

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
How can you not respect this?

Two men suspected in attempted robbery at Santa Rosa check-cashing store

A 911 call to police of two masked men seen with guns near a Santa Rosa check cashing store early Tuesday led to a flood of officers to the area and the quick arrest of two men.

...

The two men had come to the alleged attempted crime in a distinct car. The bright purple Lexus has oversized tires with lots of shiny chrome.
