Well, there's several Common Connectors (the X-series) down in that neck of the woods.

The connector for Cruise Control sounds like this, but I recall it being nearer to the clutch pedal and the fuse box than the instrument cluster.

That might be Common Connector X-17. It carries the rear headrest speakers, some cruise control stuff, the fuel tank gauge, the seat belt light, and the turn signal indicators on the dash.

Knowing the wire colors in it would be really helpful.

Yes, can't remember what it was for, but noticed it when doing my custom harness.

Yeah. I have it all buttoned up and everything seems normal, so I suppose it's for options my car didn't come with, since it was an R package. I was annoyed when I hooked the battery back up and turned on the key and heard that beeping, which sounded a lot like the severe weather alert you hear on TV. Apparently unhooking the driver airbag only sets off the dash light, but undoing the passenger bag turns on that buzzer/beeper. Just unplugged the blue box and pulled the dash bulb for the airbag. I'd say it now looks better than it did, I just hope the liner hurry up and dries fully. I remember when I did my door sills, I was pissed off because even after drying all night, it was hard, but would still come off with your fingernail. I gave it another day or two and it was hard as a rock by then. I stood on the floor putting in the dash and my smooth bottom shoes were enough to rub the liner off of the flexible seam sealer, so I touched it up with the spray can. Maybe driving it to work tomorrow will be OK, and I won't damage it further. May lay down a piece of paper to keep my feet from direct contact. I just enjoy simplicity in cars. Less bullshit plastic panels to get scratched, rattle, squeak, ect., less harnesses cluttering up everything. I pulled probably 150ft of wire out, just from my fucked up stereo stuff, speaker wires, some of the stock speaker wires still run under the carpet, some of the wires for options my car doesn't have. Looks a lot less cluttered now. Will do the door panels hopefully next week, as the panels should be arriving in the next few days. Will pull the speakers and store them until I decide down the road that I want music back. Also did away with the hacked up plastic panels from around the door, that were hacked up from the roll bars, and the panels on the outside of the footwell.

I'm also thinking about maybe doing away with the dash completely in the future, once it's less daily driver, and more fun car. I'm sick of broken clips and tabs. I'm on my second cluster hood and this one is now completely clipless. Who the **** designed those goddamn things. The clip sits on little fragile posts that are easily broken or split. Also sick of the center surround flopping around. I really would like to just rip the skin off the dash, remove ALL of the under dash ****, blower motor, heater core, everything a/c related, tuck the harnesses the best I can, and just run with the dash support. Maybe have it powder coated black and make some mounts to mount either the stock cluster or run aftermarket gauges fastened to the tube. Think I've seen interiors like that before on race cars. Probably not street legal, but we don't have inspections around here, and cops would probably never say anything about it.

About to start shopping for a new roll bar and door bars, some seats and harnesses.

Goddamn cedar trees. Leave the top down for a few hours and I get a handful of needles in each floorboard. Pretty much done, still need to find a place for the ecu for now, and do something with my fog light wiring as well as the parking brake wire. The other main harness on the passenger side tucked under the door sill plastic piece very nicely. I see some seam sealer I really wish I had taken care of. The big square hole in the passenger foot well was covered over, but I noticed it was spongy after it dried. I didn't realize it was a soft cover, or else I would have pulled it off and cleaned up the sealer around it. Oh well.

PS, why did Suzuki have to go and stop selling the DRZ400SM in the US!? Well, I understand why, but it sucks. I really want one, and finding a used one is tough. Finding a used one in good shape is even tougher.

Yeah, Katzkin. I fucked up the driver seat by trying to "improve" the foam, and ended up making the seat pad too thick, and it took all of the wrinkles/bunching out of the leather like the passenger seat has.

Well, no. Those are the bunched/gathered leather style seats.

I may have to go with a much lesser bike... a Yamaha WR250X. It costs more too! I just really want a dual sport/motard bike. More practical than sport bikes, better economy, to me, easier to ride and handle, and you can take them more places. Plus I've only ever really been on dirt bikes, so I'd feel more at home. I have driven cruisers, but not much. Even though the Yamaha is only 250cc, it's still enough of a bike for me I think, for my intended purpose of fuel economic way to and from work, and a little fun back road cruising on the weekends.

the psychological effects of having one authority figure tell him one thing and while his mother told him another has smashed his little brain. perhaps he won't die immediately, but he'll sure wish he did.

What's wrong with the youth of today?
they don't have great shows like Wonder Showzen to watch.
