Ever gotten the bottle of 800mg Ibuprofen as treatment for a semi-serious injury? I'm half surprised they numbed me before pulling my wisdom teeth out. If you genuinely become ill at many posts you make an appointment to come in and make another appointment a couple days later to actually be seen about your ailment. You make an appointment to make an appointment! And people still demand socialized medicine...

I had a problem with my feet going numb after running every once in a while, Army doctors didn't know what could cause it. I went to an Austin Podiatrist (UT Running Team's DR) and he made me some custom insoles. You'd think the military would have actual Sports Doctors.
Don't ask me about Sand Fly Fever in Iraq, or whatever it was....
I guess on the positive side, if you're stationed at BAMC(SA) your SO can get plastic surgery (Major Burn Unit, they have to stay current somehow).

You do? It's not like the cream of the crop in the medical field are enlisting. My dad was Army and I remember getting antibiotics for EVERYTHING. Have a cold, get a scrip, bang your elbow, get a scrip. I'm so antibiotic resistant now that I have to get the heavy hitters for simple **** like sinus infections. I think they brought in truck loads of antibiotic because of all the soldiers banging ****** off base. This was in Korea back in the 80s.
