You can't really paint all manifestations of personal expression the same way. Dressing up like a werewolf and expecting to be taken at all seriously isn't the same thing as wearing a shirt that has your favorite band on it (Wearing a Social D shirt right now). Getting an ear pierced isn't the same as wearing a tail.

One will have longevity the other will die a quiet death over the summer break from school. One is meant to shock and rebel, the other a true expression of something. One says I like the style of the weak, the other says I enjoy the Ramones and sturdy footwear. Which do you think someone will be doing when they are 38?

Kids are spoon fed everything these days, they can't even figure out how to rebel with out seeing a movie or subscribing to an internet forum telling them how. Back in my day ... we had to figure it out with out the internet and got a lot of *** kickings in the process. Things have changed.

My suggestion would be to invest in Tattoo removal businesses for the future. When little Joey Rebel turns 30 and decides he doesn't want that tattoo of the skull on his neck anymore he'll pay a pile of money to have it removed. People below 20 getting all the tattoos will make someone very rich in about 10 years.

Now if the guys are dressing up like Lycan the Werewolf just to get laid, that I can respect.

I think it's messed up, because I know why they're doing it. They're doing it because of the Twilight series, which sucks so much *** that I can't even put it in to words. Why would you dress and act like that? Why??? Maybe so they can score some of those 70 year old women that are into Twilight, that must be the motive.

It has nothing to do with non-conformity and everything to do with conformity. It is the approved style of dress for the particular social circle they identify with. There are one or two alphas that have established the trend and the rest will follow. They are called stylemakers, trendsetters, or whatever the label. The net effect is the same. The sheep will always follow because they are afraid not to. Your clothes, tattoos, piercings, shoes, Harley Davidson, etc. are always expressions of just how dedicated an ***-kissing follower you are. If those things were always out of fashion and favor with your self-identified social group you would have never gotten them. What is most absurd about it is that the ones who pay the most fervent attention to all things cool and trendy are the ones who believe that they are being the most original. We certainly do like to lie to ourselves about our hypocrisy. Whatever helps us sleep at night...
