If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

Thanks. I guess I'm going to figure out how to compress this thing, then use some old cable to close the valve and crimp it, and then go for a ride. Know anyone that would care to trade for a remote style?

those valves work on spring compression- I'm guessing you could stop the blue cable pulley somewhere in-between full open and full shut for a 'trail' type setting. Or try it with an old school friction shifter as an experiment.
never seen the remote version of that- sorry for any confusion.

The only experience I have with through shaft shocks isn't of much use. A few years working at AMP research in the mid 90's. They had a tiny, poorly engineered through shaft shock that we messed with endlessly trying to get it to do shock things. It's poor performance a result of Horst's penny pinching and engineering myopia, not because it was a through shaft. So yeah, dunno.

I have been playing around 'at lunch'. A fixture to redrill a spare crankset for my oldest's bicycle along with a pretty chainring replacement, some head tubes (one's an oopsie on the ID) and BB for my DIY bike.
But I never finish my projects.

Unrelated, I scooped this up yesterday for the price of zero. Stoked to build it up with budgetish parts. Going for a XC bike to race on that has some trail bike flair. We have a local racing series called non-dot that does some time trials and XC races on some of my local loops that have mild chunk. I'm going to run it at stock travel 120f/100r but build it with a fox 34 and a few other trail side of XC items. Hoping for around 27.5lbs built.

@emilio700, were you actually surprised to be riding through someone's house, or did you know beforehand?

My new 2018 FUEL EX 9.8 will ship with a 130mm Reactiv EVOL shock
My coworker ordered a 9.9 with the Thru-Shaft and is replacing it with a different shock so he offered me the Reactiv for $400
The money won't burn a hole in my pocket, so I'll stick with the standard 9.8 shock. thanks for the help!
Finished up my TREK Ninja stuff and ordered a bunch of goodies. Already have my XXX bar stem combo for the Emonda that I got on closeout, just waiting for the Blendr bases to come back in stock. Ordered a 3d Printed Wahoo BOLT mount from Shapeways for the time being. Also ordered a new Bontrager Velocis MIPS in white for my road bike, a Rally MIPS in Radioactive Orange for the MTB, as well as some bib shorts, windproof jacket, thermal jersey, tons of little stuff. Can't wait to start riding all this TREK gear, the Velocis bib I tried on felt MUCH nicer than the Pearl Izumi In-R-Cool I've been using for the last year or so.
Also ordered my Fuel with the Montrose Pro Carbon saddle, depending on how comfortable it is I may swap that over to my road bike instead and throw on my spare Bontrager EVOKE 2 saddle, had the Evoke on my last fuel and it was really really comfortable, never paid as much attention to the weight of that bike compared to road
