If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?
Been getting a lot of emails for your rides on Strava guys. Super jealous.
Hurray up post office. I need my stuff. (about 2-3 weeks out from being complete I think)

Just wanted to note that Andrew has transformed himself from a slightly round car geek into a skinny punk cyclist. When I saw him at the SuperMiata race at CVR this past weekend I was shocked. Damn, I need to get on the bike..

+1 He should post his before and after pics.
I just started using Strava, I'm too fat to get KOMs (more that there is a lot of talented climbers). Riding here is pretty amazing though.

I enjoy watching for cars while I ride. I saw a McLaren P1 down the street from my house this morning. Not as nice to look at as I expected, but I was driving and couldn't stop. I saw a Veyron last year- it makes the P1 look like a bargain.

Same shirt in both pics. The last time I was sub-180 was somewhere around 2005-2006. I should be in the high 160s when I ride my century in May. None of my pants fit me anymore. My racing suit used to be too tight, now it's a size too big. It's a good feeling

Picking up my wheel/tire package today.
Lightly used Mavic Ksyriums. Getting a good deal on them from the LBS. Cant complain
Probably pick up some shoes and bar wrap when Im there too. Will leave me with chain and cables left on my build (assuming all my ebay purchases come in LOL)

Bike shop owner took the wheels home to test on another bike.
Pain in my butt.
Still bought shoes though, from another shop down the street.
I needed a 45 because of width. They don't seem THAT long either which is cray for a shoe that's supposed to fit a 12 (Im normally a 10-10.5 street shoe). Really glad I bought these locally instead of from an online resource. between Bontrager and specialized shoes the fit for the same size was noticeable-way more so than a street shoe.
Ended up with these (last year model) with a nice discount.

Good choice on the shoes Shlammed. I loved my old Bontragers, they lasted a really long time. I'd probably still have them if the damn reps at Mavic at interbike last year didn't give me a offer I couldn't refuse on on a pair of Zxelliums.
I'm such a Mavic fanboi for their shoes now. Sidi's were always too tight and Specialized never fit right.
The Ksyriums are a good solid wheel choice. Not very heavy and I still haven't destroyed the set I use for training rides.

Good to know. I wont be racing unless things change. Not enough time to train properly and ride too. Im not a hugely competitive dude to begin with.
The shoes fit really well over specialized which seems to be what all of the shops around here have. They were a little extra plush too but really firm in the sole. It will be way way better than the gym training shoes I was using before if nothing else. I was bending the soles of those right over on the trainer and even a 30 second out of the saddle sprint was killing my feet.
Yeah a lot of people don't consider stiffness when they buy their bike shoes. Then after they upgrade to a carbon sole they are blown away by how much more power they can transfer down to the ground.
Just wait until you try a heat molded carbon sole. Fits like a glove, comfy, and you are one with your pedals.
Don't worry about racing. It honestly isn't that fun unless you are serious about it and join a team, and/or you have a lot of crits in your area. I ride to get away from the world and turn my brain off from real life. It is my "therapy".
Don't get me started on how terrible CAT4 is too. Imagine a peloton of riders but with no organization and being mere moments from being crashed out(and almost guaranteed to with my history in CAT4)

I ended up missing the race on Thunderhill last weekend. Would have been awesome to turn in a 5:45 lap time on a bike.
For fun, look at the Thunderhill segment and see the difference in actual power and strava calculated power. 540w actual, 300w calculated.

It is funny how racetracks screw up your sense of speed, though. 30mph felt really slow on the descent from T9, whereas it feels like about a million miles an hour when I do it on the road.

Andrew looks angry before, happy after.
I had a pretty balleur weekend in Austin, pedaled with the MJ shop and did some work. I guess I'm an "average cyclist" now since I can pick-up with most shop rides or "B groups" and survive. Cycling in Austin is way way way better than the other places I've pedaled. Drivers are way nicer, no angry honking, oncoming traffic scoots into the shoulder so passing traffic may give cyclists room. It's another world out there. I also discovered SwiftWick arm warmers...god damn money burn. Can I just get a list of whatever Swiftwick makes and order two of each?
I also think I fist-bumped Lance Armstrong, but not sure, lol.
