If you had the money, would you buy a C5 or C6, any input?

Will you be tracking this car (not Axing, but track days)?

No track days. Maybe not even auto x. I haven't even been able to do that in my Miata in the last year. Too much bike racing.

I had a really long response typed out, then MT logged me out.

Anyway, LS3, all the way. The C6 is a much nicer place to spend time in as a DD.
Just make sure to take one for an extended test drive. I've found after romping on it and giggling three or four times, the charm wears off pretty quickly.

I wish the Vette were the size and weight of the Miata. Unfortunately they have been selling to the same generation of buyers for 50 years, and so it is not. I'd have to pull a Bo and Luke Duke to get out of one once I got it into my garage.

So does Pusha, if that tells you anything.

My dad had a c5 'vert with a procharger and corsa catback. Car was immensely fun but plagued with horrific electronic issues i.e. lights not coming on, dash just completely going out, etc... Most likely an uncommon problem, honestly. Another friend had a c5z with a built block and procharger making north of 600whp and it was practically flawless as a daily. Win some, lose some.

I still think the c5 is a very good looking car.

C6Z. I don't put a lot of miles on it. Mostly the 01 SE BRG, streetmobile. Also Deviate which is getting a K20A2 in a few weeks. C6 is nice for longer errands, good sound system.

C5Z's are a steal these days. C6Z's are still quite a bit more but I love the shape. C6Z's stock brake with race pads will tolerate HPDE. C5Z's will not. Both overheat everything with fluid and have sketchy oil pressure fluctuations that need to be addressed if you are an intermediate to advanced driver. I track the Z once or twice a year, never 10/10ths and never more than 2-3 fast laps at a time. Too fast for the lack of real safety equipment. That's what the SuperMiata is for anyway.

I need house 3.0 before I acquire a Vette of any sort. I might be able to get one into my current garage; I doubt that I could get it jacked up onto stands though. Money isn't the issue here, they simply are not practical for my situation. Once the kids are out of college and we move into a different house then there will be room for more than one toy.
