Mines been on for about 500 miles so far though I haven't had it above 3k rpms yet and I'm not boosted so I don't know if it'll slip. I haven't had any issues with it yet though.

Scott, have you looked at the new clutch kit from FM? I know it's FM but the price isn't that bad, especially if it doesn't release on the floor like they claim. Level 1 holds 318 lb/ft and is $349; Level 2 holds 353 lb/ft and is $395. If my clutchnet ends up taking a shit I might be tempted to try their stuff.

im actually considering it. too bad i "lost" my FM catalog, so i cant read it for myself. Are those the 1.6L ratings? Last I heard the Stage I was just over the ACT HD and Stage II just over the ACT XT....200 and 277 ft/lbs. respectively.

If it's what you say the rating is, i might go that route....otherwise I'll go ACT XT with a Street Disc.

still running my clutchnet 6 puck cerametallic sprung disk with ACT Xt pp - no problems

Braineack 04-26-2008 11:05 AM

My original plan was an ACT 6-puck disc on my Centreforce PP. As of now, I'm assuming the disc itself is too thick. Because it didn't work with the centerforce and didn't work with the clutchnet itself.

I would just buy an ACT disc and call it a day with either the Centerforce or Clutchnet PP, but I'd rather start fresh with a kit that I know will work.

Yeah, if you can call living with that thing 'no problems'.

You just need a little more practice. :giggle:

AFAIK that grabiness is the friction material - it's been mentioned here numerous times. My spec disk had kevlar with the same setup (flywheel pp) and it was normal lockup on release. If I could change it at no cost I would. That said, it's not broken and the cerametallic pucks are definitely harder on the disk body.

looks like they're all a 1.8 size. The catalog says you have to use a 1.8 flywheel if you want to put it on a 1.6

Braineack 04-26-2008 12:28 PM

lame. I have three 1.6L flywheels, not one 1.8L.

johndoe 04-26-2008 12:39 PM

I've got a spare 1.8 for a fare price if you decide to go that route.

y8s 04-26-2008 12:52 PM

i bet he'd trade you 3 1.6 flwheels for it :D

johndoe 04-26-2008 12:54 PM

That's a thought. Maybe I can make myself some nice earrings and a necklace with them...

no right thread...wayyyyy behind on the posts...
I was referring to my exp w/ the clutchnet stuff...since someone said they had it on a shelf waiting to go in...

miataspeed1point6 04-27-2008 02:42 AM

That was me. Is it possible the mixing of the PP and disk caused it? I'd like to think the clutchnet stuff works well together.

johndoe 04-27-2008 09:35 AM

well his last try was a a clutchnet pp and a cluthnet disk so... they fucked up.

Braineack 04-28-2008 12:45 PM

yes. last two tries was clutchnet/clutchnet straight up, then shimmed.

they said i can return it once i pull the tranny, ordering an ACT XT MM as we speak.

jayc72 04-28-2008 01:29 PM

Might I suggest a SPEC clutch? :)

Braineack 04-28-2008 01:33 PM

i don't want want a stage II because i just removed my Carbon Fiber disc, I don't want to deal with low friction coefficients anymore. And I decided I don't want a puck anymore, so there goes the Stage III. I like ACT, had them before, dunno why I strayed. Just ordered the ACT XT w/street disc a few minutes ago. I have no worries now.

1 ACT Xtreme Duty Clutches
ZM1-XTMM $342.93 x 1
$342.93
Subtotal: $342.93
UPS Ground $32.52
Honda-Tech Discount: -$17.15
Tax: $0.00

Total: $358.30

also fwiw, clutchnet confirmed the disc is too thick. Newbsauce got a lovely call from his shop that his clutch wouldn't disengage this morning, 3X with shims. Clutchnet says "I will send you out a thinner disc we are experimenting with"
