I think I posted in here when I got rear ended on my Fz but I thought I'd jump back now that I'm back in the bike world. Life story: First bike was a 1979 Honda Twinstar 175. My father tried charging it with a 12v battery charger. We had no idea it was a 6v... After riding that for about a year I got a Honda Rebel 250 to ride while I was 15 as it was a 250cc or under license until I was 16. When I turned 16 my dad gave me his 1991 Bmw K75 which is an amazing bike and the smoothest and most comfortable bike you will ever find.Then I bought an fz6 and loved it until it was rear ended and considered a total loss and the insurance wanted an outrageous number to buy it back.. Here is my new bike that's almost done. Started life as a 1983 Bmw R80RT.

If anyone wanted a bike to tour with, these are indestructible (ask me how I know), get good mileage, plenty of power, and smooth as can be.

The world needs more flat black street bikes. I finally took mine out for the first time in a little over a year. Did nothing but a few squirts of starter fluid. I also repacked the muffler over the winter, yeah, that did nothing.

If I were to go touring I'd still look no further than a Buell Ulysses. IMO best all around bike ever made. Handling was unbelievable.

I'd agree, the XB chassis is so amazing. The short wheelbase was designed off 250 motogp bikes of the day.

Sweet little fighter you have there, curly. I like everything about it, but the rear seat looks just too big or long to me.

Erik Buell is both a genius and a high functioning moron. One of my brother's buddies was an engineer at Buell for several years and has all sorts of incredible stories about the wacky **** Erik does.

That said, I see a dude on an early XB12R about 3 times a week, and I want it real bad.

The rear section has actually been trimmed quite a bit of fender stuff. I don't really wanna cut the frame, it's a little clunky but comfy. I won't be touching it beyond maintanence and cleaning. Should be sold but I can't bring self to do that.

Sweet old bikes, Tara.

I just bought a set of bridgestone Battlax tires for my xb12r. I got a KILLER deal on ebay.. only 208.00 shipped for front and rear for my bike. Has anyone used these before? They are triple compounds, softer compound on the edges and harder in the middle.

I'm ready for some serious canyon carving. I'll update with my thoughts on the tires once i get some miles on them.

Not mine but a linkie from facebook. Anyone know what T2 flanged turbo would be small enough for this? I have a GT1548 in my attic waiting for something like this, but IMHO is too small even for the 900cc i was feeding it.



Or most likely this is all snow and no go...way too small to spool but looks badass, and that looks like the point.

GT15 should spool nicely, my turbo go-kart with a T2 on a 8HP single cylinder engine spools just fine to a surprising 6 psi max.

Anybody have Indian stuff? A few months ago I bought a 1972 Indian JC-54, and a few weeks ago I inhereted a 1973 Indian ME-100. I am disappoint because it was made in Taiwan with a Jap motor...but it runs great. The JC-54 was made by Minarelli in Italy and it uses a Delorto carb. It is a pain to get running. Italy= quality, but issues. (I know as I've owned 2 Ducati's). Japan= cheap, but piece of cake to get running and dependable. I guarantee if the JC had a Mikuni carb, it would start on the 2nd kick.

My GT1548 on 900cc spooled slow. But with the CVT, that would be close to max rpm all the time at WOT I assume, your right, probably works fine.

I still have the spare good GT1544 in my attic! That spooled great on 900cc.

I messed around and swapped my 2004 Bandit 1200 with almost 30k miles for a 6700 mile 2009 Versys. Thoughts?

I dig the versys! Definately a huge upgrade from an 04 bandit, imho.

I would have personally gone with a Ulysses, but I admit i'm quite biased

I didn't really want it, and I don't think I'll keep it, but book value was DRAMATICALLY higher than the Bandit, so I about snatched his hand off when he offered to trade straight.

It's a nice bike, but it's a little confused as to what it wants too be..

They seem like neat bikes. Kawasaki basically did just what Buell did with the Ulysses: took their sport bike (650R) and gave it longer legs and a comfort seat. Needs more power IMO though. It's right around 60hp IIRC, so over 40 down on a Ulysses but weighs about the same! Wow .

I like the way the look and can respect their performance even if mediocre. I rode a ninja500 for a few years. But hey, i also drove a stock miata for a few years.
