DUDE. Do it. After getting some miles in on this thing, I don't know why the hell I waited so long.

The chassis. Holy cow, any of the buell quirkiness is gone with it. Just feels like a "normal" bike compared to my firebolt, but with all of that great Buell handling we've come to know and love. Great for two up, i can crank the rear shock preload **** and when my GF hops on it's like there's not even a passenger. Honestly it's the first bike I've ever owned that is just as much fun to ride two up as it is alone.

I -almost- pulled the trigger on a bmw 1150gs before i bought this. SO glad that I didn't.

Just got this guy running and legal for the street. Gonna be my daily beater until late fall I think.

This photo was taken like 2 weeks ago when I dug it out of my garage. I acquired it near the end of summer last year and I haven't heard it run ever, so I drained all the crappy gas out of it and filled it back up with good stuff. I had some spark issues which I straightened out, but right now the Carb needs a needle clip, which I'll be borrowing from my project bonneville (temporary parts donor).
That yellow bike is a 74 Trident frame, with a 73 750 Bonneville trans and motor, with a tiger head (single carb). It's right hand shift which is pretty wild.

^ this is another reason why my car project is taking forever and is going to take forever. I have way too many toys and no time for any of it. I have been cleaning house lately and consolidating, so I'm hoping things will get better.

I have sortof made the first step on getting my next bike. Traded the Triumph on Thursday...

For this.

It's going to be street legal, but even without it being street legal I can get to some excellent trails within 20 minutes from where I'm living. That pic was taken when the machine still had only 35 miles on it or so (got it with 1 mile).

I LOVE it, and it still has a triple... but I'll still need a street bike in the near future.

I rode a VStrom 1000 while I was waiting for the dealer to prep my YXZ. That thing was SWEET, except that it felt totally sanitized, very little character to the bike... also the windscreen made the wind buffet my helmet something fierce, it was awful.

The morning before trading it in I finally found a great road to ride around here even so, after the ride I was ready to let her go. It DID confirm that I've got to get another bike soonish though, something I wasn't 100% sure about. Some pics:

It is a YXZ, the only side by side I was interested in. I wanted it because:
-It's a 3-cylinder instead of the twins in the other machines. Smoother, higher RPM, much better sound IMO
-it has a 5-speed sequentially shifted manual transmission with a clutch pedal. it's like driving a rally car mixed with a trophy truck mixed with a 4-wheeler, and it's a riot.

Dude, if you want to come through you'd have a place to stay, would be cool to meet you.

Oh man, so that thing uses some variant of the triple they are putting in the new fz09 bikes? I have not looked into side by sides in a while, they look like a hoot though.

Trying to take more m/c trips this year, and utah is DEFINITELY on the list. Will let you know ahead of time if i plan a trip out that way!

TF, get an SV. It'll scratch your bike itch in naked trim and they're available for peanuts.

He just got rid of a bike that's miles better than an SV.

If you want to stay with a naked bike and upgrade, I'd say you should look for a V-twin Tuono. Some of those are creeping down into the low-$4k range, and the Rotax V60 is bulletproof.

Later-gen bike with many mods, and very low miles at $5500 from a dealer. Earlier bikes are even cheaper.

I love the idea of SVs and definitely need to ride one sometime, but I don't think I'd be quite satisfied with one. They weigh more than a Buell XB and are down 30+ lb ft, and to me the Buell has just enough grunt to be satisfying.

I also don't want another naked. One of the biggest reasons I traded the triple is because I want something more comfortable for 2up, and more comfortable for longer rides. But I also still want a lightweight bike that handles very well.

The best bike that fits that description while keeping the budget down is the Ulysses. Quite sure that's my next bike. Need to rent a Tiger 800 too though just to see... But will probably feel underpowered a bit.

If I got another naked it'd be one of the newer liquid-cooled Ducati Monster 1200s. That's still the best motorcycle I've ever ridden and worth every ****** penny.

seems like a helluva bike for the money. But I'd have kept the triple if I was going to stay naked.

Did a 750 km trip across the alps to the dolomites and back today. I normally hoon these mountain roads in my MX-5, but on a bike they are equally breathtaking. I'll let the potato pictures do the talking.
