Being type cast (which 70% of actors are) doesn't make someone a bad actor. Take Clint Eastwood, or Christopher Walken for example.

One of the best actors? Gary Oldman.

I don't buy that crap for Cage as an excuse. Unless they type cast for people that can't act their way out of a wet paper bag. He reads the lines with such believable emotion! :giggle:

My point exactly. Mr Cage's difficulties as an actor have nothing to do with him being type cast. He could have an amazing variety of roles and still blow goats.

An actor can still be amazing and basically play the same type of roll again and again.

I gotcha. Yeah, I agree. Cage plays the same role over and over, just he sucks at it. Or maybe he isn't trying to play the same character, he just can't help it, because he can't act. His excited, scared, angry and hysterical emotions all look and sound the same. He just screams with a stupid look on his face.

I saw this being advertised on another forum, and his face REALLY makes me uncomfortable for some reason. At the same time it makes me want to punch him. He is unintentionally playing that role correct, I want to punch him in the face. :giggle:

Forgive me Mr. Eastwood for bringing up your name in the same thread with Cage, but I saw Gran Torino the other night and thought it was an exceptional film. Wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Your post reminded me. Pale Rider is still one of my favorites. Seeing him so old makes me sad. When he dies I'm going to cry.

But now, away from actual good actors and back to the only real actor, Nicolas Cage, the master of all roles.

Being a movie lover I have to chime in.
+1 Raising Arizona was a great movie and Cage was good.
+1 God of War was good.
+1 Face Off was a lame movie
+1 Gran Torino is great. I just saw it yesterday. Clint is the man.
+1 Malkovitch's accent in Rounders was really bad. I mean are Russian accents really that annoying?
+1 that Gary Oldman is a great actor. Look at the wide varieties of characters he has played well. If you have not seen "The Professional" rent it. Now. Excellent psycho cop performance, and one of the best one-word line deliveries ever...

I FUCKING love that 'EVERYONE'. It cracks me up every time.

Speaking of Clint and great one-word lines, here is another good one from High Plains Drifter. Start at 5:26 time mark through 5:49

"Out..." :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

LORD of War was decent, I guess maybe you can call it good despite Cages best effort to ruin it with his terrible acting.
