vacation rules. drove down to the outer banks from DC in the miata. ran great in the 85-90F weather. I still have some weirdness with the AC settings on the hydra but it was fine as long as I was moving (over 2k).
drove the last 50-75 miles with the top down. ahhhhhh.
weather here is great and i've got one heck of a sunburn.

I was down there this whole weekend, just got back. A bunch of us rented a BFH down on the beach at mile-marker 19... drank wine, ate some cheese, caught a few rays... you know.
Cool stuff, I like the carolinas. I had never been untill last march, we spent 4 days in charleston, SC. Though the weather was kind of cold I liked it. I'll have to check out the OBX sometime though.

I was at mile marker 2 on the croatan. not too packed for a holiday weekend. ate lots of grilled meat and drank lots of cheap beer and bloody marys.
as for AC in a miata, i prefer not to drive with ball-sweat dripping down my asscheeks. you do what you want.

Downtown, the only place for Steaks is Kincaids at Macarthur Center Mall.
No need to go inside the Waterside Marketplace, but lots of things happening around waterside, free concerts and what not:

Also Downtown is the Nauticus/Battleship museum.

Anywhere on Granby street downtown will do fine for food... just pick your favorite style and go in.
A place called TownCenter is the newest trendy spot. Nothing there for tourists, but the usual good eats: http://www.vabeachtowncenter.com/Vir...ach_Dining.php
If you've never been on a Carrier, it's an interesting couple of hours to take a tour. http://www.navstanorva.navy.mil/TOUR/index.htm
For a sandwich lunch one day, go to: http://www.tasteunlimited.com/locations.html There are several in town, I like the one on Shore Drive if you're up that way.
That'll get you started.

PS Sam, as I was driving up 64 on the east side, I saw a flyover by one of your frisbee planes. It was probably about 1-2pm on Tuesday. Did you see me wave?
