So my cat. converter got stolen again...
And this time the guy didn't get caught. 93 Toyota T100.
Anyway, do 49-state legal cats function the same as California cats? 49-state cats are usually way cheaper than CA cats.
I just want it to pass emissions.

Yah, I got subpoenaed for court for the first attempted stealing (guy got caught). Guy didn't show. Warrant for his arrest is out. Thought he went back to Mexico. Now this **** happens again. Probably same *******.
Back to the question, CA and 49-state cats...do they all function the same and pass the sniffer?

As to using a 49 state cat, would that be the same thing as moving to Ca from nevada? (as an example) that is to say while they may have to fit a Ca cat when new, that cannot mean that only cars sold in Ca can pass Ca emmisions can it? I bet they stipulate a stricter number for new cars but actuall test for another figure.
Or I could be wrong, just an idea

can you buy a used cat on ebay or craigs list?? well i think if your car is tuned well it dont matter what type of cat you have as long as you dont tell them that you have an 49 state cat. i think it would work. my high flo fm cat got real close to passing it was my tune that had me fail. i worked out the tune a bit and i passed with the same cat.

It all depends on the OBD of the car IIRC. Honda/Acura cats vary, I have sold my old CRX (OBD 0)one to a Cat buyer for 20 dollars. Then I sold my 99 miata (OBD2) for 80 dollars IIRC. The change in OBD calls for more netting IIRC, and more netting = more platinum...I love having a lowcar where I cannot even touch the cat.
