Vote me and my car into SEMA and Super Lap Battle

Ah, that is messed up. The invite should be passed down to the next car that does not already have invitation.
Don't agree. In my shooting leauge, winner of class for each competition receives a pistol. But if you've already won a pistol in that class that year, then the first runner-up gets the pistol (unless he already one one for the year, in that case it gets passed down again). I won a pistol at my first competition ever last year. Still showed up and shot at the rest.

If the subie already has an invite, then without a doubt next in line should get to go. I think its still worth a shot to try and make it happen if you're still interested.
You nailed him in points. They should know you have a rather large crowd following this and it would be great exposure for them to get their name out there. Or bad exposure to let everyone that has been following it know what a BS contest it turned out to be in the end. Giving an invite to someone that already has one is dick......ok fine let him take the title of 1st, but you should still get the invite.

Here's the email I sent to the Octane Challenge. Suggest others might want to do similarly...
Predictable finish to the challenge. For the 2nd place TT finisher to have won, the 1st place TT car would have had to finish 5th or lower in online voting.
Andrews finish in the online voting shows how much the voting public wanted to see a David beat the Goliath Subie. A sub 20K build vs. a 100K plus build.
Would be a great gesture to see the 2nd place finisher, Andrew Kidd, receive your invite to the Superlap Battle. The Subie is already invited and entered and doesn't need that part of the prize!

Email sent:
"I'm taking the time to write this email to ask that you reconsider Andrew Kidd (miata driver) as the one you grant the invite to. I understand according to your scoring system he didn't win, but you have to look at it from outside the box. If the subie driver already has an invite, and Andrew obviously killed it on the votes, why not give the invite to the next in line. He didn't come in 1st place, and I'm sure he doesn't mind the title of 2nd. There's a bunch of us awaiting the outcome of what decision you will make and I really hope to see you guys make the right one. If the subie already has an invite and the miata was next in line, I think its only right to pass it on to Andrew."
Good luck man. That's total BS if they don't grant you the invite.

like i thought, it's just octane report wanting a car for it's booth. it's not gonna have a non fast/furious car at it's booth at sema.
plus the super lap battle has qualifier's at 3-4 events throughout the year. sav. is fast enough that he could have won an entry that way. (no BS POLL needed)
lastly, there might be one other way to get into that event sav. if you really want to go. i know some people that know some people and can't promise anything, but it wouldn't hurt anything to try. worst they can do is say no.
when spring break was abolished in daytona for '05-'06. they (super street) brought the tuner bash to the third coast. we (my friends and i) went down there and party'd like rockstars with nads, jonny wong, and all those dudes. my buddies car won the best import award and was featured in their mag. we also won the dyno contest, fwd and rwd and team awards. over the next couple years they featured 3 more of our crew's cars. anyway's we have a few of the their number's still and can see what's up. john naderi left but i think wong took his place, and ricky chu is at their sister mag. project car. as a matter of fact, we could probably try john roper also. he lives here in texas and still does photo shoots and writes for them when needed. (and buys and sells my friends classic imports...lol)
lmk sav., **** octane report
