VW realizes that this isn't an especially good time to be perceived as trying to fuck over its customers. I'm surprised the offer doesn't a free kitten and a blowjob.

FWIW: VW claims accepting the package WILL NOT prevent one from engaging in future litigation, or waive any responsibility of the manufacturer for the "defects".

My dad bought a 2016 GTI with the power pack and dynamic suspension control and OTD paid 28k on a car normally worth 32k before taxes/delivery. He had 4k in incentives from the dealer for their "loyalty" program that recently ended. That GTI is truly amazing. Amazing power delivery, no boost lag, a really well done electronic locking differential rather than the brake actuated diff they are putting in new models, the clutch is perfect, and the suspension fixed every gripe I had on the MK6 model range(my Sportwagen). The comfort mode is so god damn comfy I felt like I was in a Cadillac. He is averaging 28mpg with a lot of hard driving, full WOT and redlining it often. Pretty impressive to say the least. MY dealers lot is EMPTY. I think I saw 20 cars on the lot total. Before the TDI stop sale it had over 80 cars on the lot. Shows how much of their sales were TDI related. I hear/read a lot of dealers are worried about inventory with the coming holidays as VW doesn't have enough non TDI models to supply dealers. |
Also ,those affected by the recall can claim their reimbursement from VW ($500 gift card to be used on VW related purchases & $500 to use as you will), here is the link, I just registered myself for it and need to stop by the dealer to get it taken care of.

due to this...
I took my Sportwagen in for the misfueling guard(required for the 120k fuel pump warranty extension) and after specifically telling them I was only there for that, some intrepid tech decided to overwrite my Stage 2 Malone tune with the ECU update recall causing almsot every warning bell in the car to go off(no EGR/DPF etc). Luckily the service manager is footing the overnight shipping bill to Boraparts in Oregon for the reflash and they gave me a Passat loaner car until it comes back....phew! Luckily they took care of me so there is no hard feelings. I was laughing though, as this is the first time I have let the dealership touch my car since I purchased it with 150 miles on the clock. Too funny!(in a crying way) 1) That 2.5l 5 cylinder motor has a lot of low end grunt. I was initially disappointed with the power but around town with the tiptronic shifting in the meat of the power band, not bad for a daily! I can see why people turbo charge these things, starting it with it as a base rather than the 2.0l 4 cylinder. People are making serious power with a lot of lower end tq with custom turbo setups on the motors. 2) Holy crap that engine is quiet. I had to double check that the car was even running at times. |
