For a stock height F150, you won't need much drop. I wouldn't ride it home, but more because I'd be terrified of NYC traffic on a bike with 17hp. My old room mate had a CB360 cafe racer. It was forever more gangster, but it would only do about 85 mph all up with his 135 lb *** on it. He had some kind of 2-2 exhaust on it and clubman bars, a cafe racer tail section and a silver rattle can paint job. It got 70 mpg and he had >$1000 total. And it PULLED women. Girls absolutely adored that thing.

 

Good news. The guy has ramps, so getting it in is not a problem.

Out, i guess it will just be man power. 4 guys, so it shouldnt be a problem.

I have a buddy that rides a teal one just like that, and my first bike was a CM400T (Honda's replacement for CB360). My first few years riding were really sweet on that thing. I recently had the opportunity to ride another friend's 400 that was exactly like the one I had...and man did it feel different a decade later...almost like a deathtrap.

They are great bikes...you paid a little more than I would have, but that one looks like it's in great shape.

I wouldn't try and upgrade too much unless you want to go all out cafe. Those can turn into a real black hole of money...and at the end of the day you can still *barely hit highway speeds. They are nice, I'm just looking out for your pocketbook drain/enjoyment ratio.

Enjoy it...you will never forget your first, even if she isn't quite the beauty you thought she was 10yrs later.

 

I'm not planning to upgrade anything right now. Maybe way way down the line it will turn into a project, but not any time soon. Right now I just need it to run, and get me around. Doesnt have to be fast.

The price was a little much for a 35 year old bike, maybe 200 too much, but I figured hey, it comes with a lot of new stuff installed, and a lot of new stuff included. The guy was planning to return it to show room condition so he says he has a box of extra parts that are mint. He also has 5 other bikes so I didnt mind paying a bit more for piece of mind, and for some reason it called to me.

Hopefully 5 years down the road it will turn into a cafe bike, for now it can stay the way it is. But yea, I plan to keep it forever.

Id go with the 750 Four K, but im biased. A lot of cool cafe conversions are done with that bike as a starting point.

 

i wouldn't ride it home, especially being a new rider without much street experience. i'd also give something that old a throrough checkover before even going down your street. start small. getting it out of the truck with 4 people shouldn't be a problem? how much does it weigh anyhow?

I've usually paid less...and then paid more for a new battery, new tires, carb rebuild etc.

Honestly seems like you made out. Should be fun to learn on. The cafe thing should be cool as well, I've just never had the time/money to pursue the idea.

 

That's highway robbery for a CB750. The K isn't as desirable as other models, but it's still cool.

God I hate furred bikes. They are the ultimate abomination to all that which is abominable.

 

400lbs.

 

Picked it up on Sunday.
Came with the old CV carbs, old springs, spare headlamp, spare gauge cluster, factory shop manual, and new battery installed.

The good:
Starts on the first kick. Electric starter works, all gauges work, engine sounds great, shifts smoothly, rides nicely.

The bad:
Carbs need tuning, brakes need adjusting, paint needs refreshing, surface rust needs painting(couple spots on the swing arm), rear brake switch sticks, blinkers out of blinker fluid, needs new fork seals(included with bike), and the side stand is now too long because the new shocks on it are slightly lower.

For a 35 year old bike though, its pretty mint, I was surprised at the condition it was in. I checked for everything you guys mentioned. The welds at the head are fine, frame doesnt have cracks, oil smells good.

Plans soon as I have time in 2 months are: complete engine tune up, carb tuning, go through the electrics with a fine toothed comb,paint the tank and panels, and change the fork seals. If I have time after that I might convert the lights to LED's.

Pretty happy right now, but my parents are another story.

Not good. I didnt tell her where I was going or what I was doing that day, and told her after the fact so it was doubly bad.

 

I have done the same thing many times with many different GFs and it was always well worth it!!

 

Maybe thats why you have many different gf's. I have been with this one almost 4 years.
