Mostly just to be matchy-matchy. If there's no good reason to not mate a Mega lower with a BCM/Spike's/Palmetto State Armory/et al complete upper, I would probably be happier to do that so as to save me some effort.

This is going to be a huge pain, though. I got an email from BCM yesterday morning on my personal address that a component was in stock but most gun sites are blocked from my office and trying to navigate a purchase on my phone is never going to work. :(

Yah, abosolutely no reason to not mix/match. They are all built to the same specs.

That said... they aren't all built to the same tolerances and tiny variances do occur. I'd use whichever upper receiver fit the lower best (ie: no wiggle). It doesn't affect accuracy, but can annoy people.

10-4. From what I understand (and that's very little in general and even less on a relative scale when it comes to AR assembly), the Mega stripped upper and lower receivers I have are supposed to be pretty high quality. They fit together like they are one piece at this point and a significant amount of wiggle would bother me.

Probably a moot point unless I pay Mark or Sam or you to camp on some sites and buy me parts.

If the fitment is that tight, then I'd also find someone with the proper barrel wrench and swap parts. Then sell me the BCM receiver

You hit a point I've been meaning to ask about... I have a Smith Enterprises Armorers Wrench I purchased through Brownells a while back, and I'm less than impressed with its fitment. It absolutely does not fit the 2-3 "milspec" A2 flash hiders I've tried it on, and it wouldn't fit the receiver extension castle nut on an A2 rifle tube or a M4 tube from Bravo.

What armorers wrenchs are you guys having success with? Specific PNs would be awesome. I get super annoyed with tools that don't work right.

Amazon.com: Aim Sports Ar15 Stock Combo New Style Wrench Tool: Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Aim Sports Ar15 Stock Combo New Style Wrench Tool: Sports & Outdoors

This is the one I got. It's not a precision instrument, but the tolerances are acceptable. It fits the A2 flash hider that I'll be removing soon, and worked fine on the castle nut (it slipped once but I let it get a little off square).

After much trial and tribulation, I managed to get the B5 SOPMOD stock ordered via my super smart phone. One more part to add to the pile.

Anyone else disengage from gun crue due to ammo prices? I may shoot these guns again, one day.

I haven't gone shooting in a long time. I can't afford to replace any ammo I would shoot.

Scrappy, every site out there has a "notify me when in stock" button on all their ****. For parts, if you have a computer near you, can usually get to it in time to place an order. For ammo, forget it unless you've got a page open to the actual item, can refresh quick+add to cart+ checkout, and hope 10k other dudes aren't doing the same thing.

But for ammo... Walmart hasn't raised their prices on anything as far as I can tell. You just gotta find the one near you that is getting reliable shipments (they all should be) and be there in the morning (7-730 depending on store) when the the sporting goods dept "opens" and they stock the shelves.

On a side... just bought this: Nikon ProStaff Target EFR 3-9x40 Rifle Scope FREE S&H 6734. Nikon Rifle Scopes. It was $151 shipped after a 5% coupon and free shipping.

Optics planet currently has a regular rimfire BDC RETICLE 3-9x40 Prostaff for $119 shipped... GREAT ******* DEAL if you need a reliable rimfire scope. I wanted the extra EFR gimmick adjustment for mine, and an extra $30 seemed reasonable.

I'm shooting tonight... harvesting brass... always on the hunt for actual normal prices on items, they still exist. Picked up .22 from an armslist seller that was just retail price. Picking up .223 at below retail just through an ongoing purchase connection from a year ago.

Rare though to find stuff (local stores are simply empty here), and connections/luck runs dry...

I took 3-4 friends shooting last month, completely non-firearms people. I told them if they fed it, they could shoot it, but no one could find ammo. I brought about 3-400 rounds and they were shitting themselves on the $10-12 price tags on my boxes of .40S&W ammo. I told them it was "Pre-Obama" ammo. Honestly, they couldn't afford to pay me back at current prices for what we burned, but I made that investment in "fun" literally years ago.

I loaned my 1100 to some co-workers to do some skeet shooting this last weekend. They couldn't find ammo so I also gave them 200 rounds of 12ga and told them "to replace it" rather than "pay me for it" when they were able. I don't expect to be paid back any time soon.

But missed the highlighted portion below:

Which was belied by this morning's action:

I am pretty much down to just needing the lower parts kit, then the important upper components (barrel, BCG and probably something else I am forgetting), optics if any, then mags and ammo. "That's it."

~42 cents a round for .223 tonight, not bad considering the lack of it anywhere.

I've got about $400 worth of parts backordered from DSArms that I may cancel. I called them last week and they had everything in stock from my order except the backordered LPKs. Call them at lunch today to cancel the LPKs and now they have NOTHING from my order in stock. Dammit!

Wait, WTF? DSArms is answering the phone for you?! lol...

Le sigh:

In other news... DAMMIT. Went to my local Cabela's to buy an RCBS Universal Hand primer tool cause it's cheaper retail than Midway at $63.00 after tax. Of course they didn't have one in my local store, the warehouse was out, but a store in like Nevada had 3 of them. My clerk offered to call up the Nevada store and order one shipped from the store to my house and they'll pickup shipping charges. Winning.

Well it arrived today along with my Polish Care package.

Yep. The anvil won't come up high enough to fully seat the primer, no matter what I tried. Also noticed while looking this over, there are 2 c-clips missing from the handle pin. WTF?! This doesn't seem like Cabela's fault since the package wasn't opened, neither was the little bag of misc parts until I tore it open. Guess I'm not going shooting this weekend after all.

My Aimsurplus Polish AK-M Care package arrived and I'm excited with what came, minus the copious amounts of cosmoline.

As menacing as the bayonet looks, I'm sad the blade was refinished. Bayonet, Scabbard, 4 steel magazines, magazine bandoleer, oil can, cleaning kit plug (goes in the buttstock) and a new old stock sling for $113 to my door. Awesome.

Speaking of Aimsurplus, 2 evenings ago I saw on /r/guns that Aim had authentic Russian M1944 Mosin Nagant "Carbine" rifles in stock for $199.95! Recently I was visiting some gun stores willing to pay almost that for a Chinese Type-53, kinda mad at myself for not buying one from AIM before they sold out!

Local guy in Topeka was selling a 500 round case of TulAmmo 5.56 today for $225. Tempting, but I refuse to pay 45 cents a round for steel russian ammo especially when you consider Sportsmansguide was selling those 500 round cases for $130 a couple months ago.

Well crap. My quadrail is too short. Guess I will do some actual research on picking one out. I ordered it back on jan 6 assuming they were universal.

This was for brass cased Sellier & Bellot. So far only 3 duds out of over 100 rounds shot
