^The hysteria is beginning to subside. As expected, the avalanche outpouring of "**** you Feinstein" was enough to let most politicians know that the country doesn't want that ****.

Over the past few days, I've even seen it among some of my friends who have become exceedingly more educated on gun stuff and are starting to come around to the idea that the "gun issue" we face is just another Republican vs. Democrat issue, and that if you'd just listen, the pro-gun people have some really good ideas, and the anti-gun people speak/talk/act just like any other sort of fringe-wacko group.

A buddy of mine sought me out the other day in the hangar and asked me what I thought when I heard Biden say a double-barrel shotgun was the best self-defense gun. We talked for about 10 minutes, and all he could say was that Biden sounded like an complete idiot, and the shotgun comment he made really hit home how out of touch the anti's must be if one of their main guys says something that stupid.

Just got an email from BOTACH saying my PMAG's are still backordered with no delivery date. Still pretty confident my Brownells stuff will be here in a week or two.

My trigger parts and gas tube came in the mail today, so naturally I neglected all obligations and responsibilities to do the conversion

I've had a very small amount of actual "training" for shooting rifles... that is to say, once a year, I hang out with some guys who warm up at 1000yds. This crew has taught me a lot, and every year I get better and better with my shooting. This past year, I shot a 3-shot 7" group at 1000yds with a 7mm WSM. My buddy followed up my shooting with a 4" group, same gun, same winds, same ammo... he's just that much better on the gun.

Point is, somebody who really "knows" what they're doing will take apart every little detail of your technique after watching you take just a few shots. Some guys wonder for years why their $3k guns and $2k scopes only shoot MOA at 500yds and blame the reloads when they can't hit a barn at 1000yds... cause they never learned how to shoot.
Standing from the shoulder.

Although, over the past month of watching the vast knowledge of our political leaders, I have learned that I am doing it wrong. The pistol grip is there so I can hold it down by my side to inflict maximum damage.

Hell yeah, accuracy by volume. Learned that playing paintball.

Thanks for the spoon-feeding.

Ordered:
  • MIAD pistol grip
  • mid-length MOE handguard
  • BCM charging handle
  • MBUS flip sights

Still need the lower parts kit, BCG, barrel and stock. I like the looks and price of the Bravo company SOPMOD but the black is out of stock. I may end up paying more for a Magpul setup just because they are easier to lay hands on (and ship with Amazon Prime!).

Yeah, the B5 SOPMOD's are hard to find. I had notifications set up on 3 different websites and finally managed to snag a SOPMOD Bravo in FDE yesterday.

EDIT:

If you wanted the regular Enhanced SOPMOD, BCM has it in stock. The Enhanced SOPMOD is a bit heavier and has two storage tubes.

100 Yrds, Iron sights, not wearing my glasses. My friend who was instructing me was a competitive shooter for many years. His help was invaluable.

Shooting in this position.

I know it's not that good, but I was pretty happy with it.

3" group @100yds on iron sites... son, it doesn't get much better than that. A lot of people would have trouble doing that with a scoped rifle off a rest. Just off the cuff, I'd say you were a natural.

I'll check out the price differential when I get home and can open firearms-related links. I'm already having serious buyers remorse on the impulse buys of the last few components. I can easily see this build running up to about $500 - $600 without optics or magazines or ammo, not counting the money in the receivers. I don't think I'm going to end up getting enough utility/enjoyment out of it to justify the cost or time to learn to assemble it all.

Agreed with Sam; that looks pretty darn solid given the parameters.

If you build it and decide it's not worth keeping, then sell it for $1400.

Just don't wait too long.

Dont be so modest, thats pretty damn good. I re-qualify with security forces and random army peeps... you definitely shoot better than some that are required to shoot pretty damn well.

I was SF and did CATM for a bit. A lot of SF is horrible, but never go fire with base populous. You'll pee a little at best. I'm by far no expert/master. However, the guys from services, hospital, and etc hit the barricades in front of them. Plus some really dangerous stuff.

Found an Armslist seller selling .22 for barely over retail (basically at retail) for almost 5k of CCI. Bought it and added it to the dwindling stocks.

Also trying to buy another Dillon 650 that popped up locally. Hopefully the seller responds to me.
