Yet Another Gun Thread

I would agree that it is not the most comfortable gun. It kind of grows on you (took me a while to get used to the small size). A 10 round mag does make it a lot better BUT I don't carry mine like that. I am going for small size so it will always be in my pocket and hope I never have to use it. Comfort does not enter into that equation at all.

Does it make you feel strange that I was thinking about you today? Some guy pulls up to the range wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. First thing he does is put on a black tactical vest with dropdown leg holster. Wanted so bad to take his picture because he looked like a complete ******* toolbag.
Had a S&W or Glock in 40S&W. How do I know that? After burning through 20 full magazines fast as he could pull the trigger, GIJOE got in his truck and left. I collected his brass, along with a few 3030 hulls.

The guy walks around in ******* multicam every goddamn day so I just figured he was some aspie who works in a gun store or something until one day he saw me carry my bags in. He started talking to me about how he runs a tactical school that trains all the local SWAT/SRT teams and starts asking me about what's in the bags, etc. I told him that if he really wanted to find out, then standing in my driveway telling me about how he's a trained killing machine while adjusting his fanny pack would be a good idea. I guess he didn't want to know that badly so he turned on his heel and marched off. Now, every time I see him he won't make eye contact and makes it a point to rest his hand on his fanny pack like he's bad or something. What a joke.
As far as drawing from that old Bianchi goes, I can get my P220 out and unload it quick enough to **** of pretty much any rangemaster. I think that's pretty good as I don't see myself having to outdraw the man with no name any time soon while I've got a !!!GODDAMN COLT!!! in my hands.

speaking of which, watching him break down an M14 while blindfolded is easily the most bone chilling thing I've ever seen. I guess old habits die hard.

FWIW, "corrosive" primers aren't really a big deal. Wipe down the chamber and barrel very shortly after firing it and you've nothing to worry about.

Finally had some time to actually work on my AK build. Starting with a 1981 manufactured Romanian G kit. Chrome barrel that looks rarely shot but fairly dirty.
This is how it came. Included all 922r compliant replacement parts:
Tapco single hook trigger
Tapco gas piston
Tapco Rivet set
USA Made slant muzzle brake
My pistol grip (fiberglass) is showing its age and attempts to lightly sand it with 600 grit sandpaper doesn't seem to be removing the splinters. Someone makes a $20 piece to install an AR grip on your AK pattern rifle, cost me $0.89 for a single screw and 2 minutes of work on the grip with a file, 1 1/4" twistdrill. Had a spare grip laying around so I'll use it until I get around to picking up an AK grip. Don't really like how it looks with the stock colt grip.
Took the furniture off tonight and started stripping it. Jesus I'm never doing this again. Have 3 hours invested so far and they're completely stripped of the factory's terrible peeling ugly finish. Started sanding with 220 grit sandpaper and smoothed everything out. Removed the upper front grip from the piston tube and it immediately broke in half. Attempting to glue it back together but don't have high hopes for it holding very well, though if it holds long enough to refinish and get put back on the tube it'll never be noticed.
For what is basically laminated plywood this is actually going to end up very pretty when I'm done. While I understand it'll never be THIS pretty, showing what color I've decided to finish my furniture with:
That is basically the rifle I want. Buying a replacement lower front piece without the vertical grip to finish also so I can switch them out if I choose. Cant bring myself to saw off the grip since its a complete numbers matching rifle and I might actually like it when finished. Plan to clean up the bolt carrier and do a brushed finish on the exposed pieces, the entire receiver, trunnions, sight block, barrel, gas tube, upper cover, and gasblock will be finished with flat black GunKote.
Bought a shop press over the weekend and stopping tomorrow for some materials to build a rivet device. Should have a bending jig setup next week and hopefully have an actual receiver shortly after. Was frustrated attempting to remove the rear sight so I designed a tool in CAD for quick and easy sight removal. If those are easy enough to build I might start selling them. Starting to get really excited about this build!!
Made a visit to Cabela's the other day for some .22lr ammo. Have a bad habit of going through all of their used longarms racks with every visit, so I spied a New England Firearms Handi-Rifle in .223Rem with a bull barrel.. Naturally some ******* cocked the hammer so you can't break it open, but they looped a ziptie through the trigger guard between the trigger lock and the trigger. Tried for several minutes to drop the hammer using the ziptie without success. Whipped out my SOG lockback knife and slipped it between the trigger and lock, twsited it sideways and pulled back a tiny bit and the knife closed on my ******* finger. That's never happened before but it cut me really deep! Placed the rifle back on the shelf and headed for my car, thankfully wearing black slacks so I wasn't bleeding all over everything before I could dress it. Mended my wound and returned to the rifle and inspected the bore and mechanics- Looked brand new! Bought it.
Came with a really, really shitty scope. Zero'd it at 50 yards and managed to shoot a 5/8" group at 50 yards with factory loads. Anyone ever fire their AR and touch your just ejected brass? They're usually pretty warm right? First round I squeezed the trigger and immediately broke the rifle open and extracted the brass which was ice cold. Guess having 5/8" of metal surrounding your casing sucks out heat pretty quickly. So now I have a rimfire redi-rifle and a centerfire version. Neat thing about these rifles is you remove the barrel and send your receiver into H&R with around $100 they'll return your receiver with a matched barrel in a caliber of your choice. Swapping out the barrels is really easy, simply remove a single thumb screw, pop off the front handguard, break open the barrel and lift it out.

That furniture set could be fun!
Honestly no experience with wasr rifles. I shot one once, seemed okay. Only thing I actually really know about them is they're designed for single stack magazines so I guess the receiver is a little thinner..
Everything I've seen is they're great rifles. Looks like they're available in .22lr (that would be awesome), 7.62x39, 5.45x39, and 5.56.
