Bolt carrier group is a non-serialized item which can't be made into a firearm, just like an upper receiver of an AR. I've bought several upper receivers complete and part from places online, the lower is the "firearm."

My dad has an old Ruger MarkII that he used to use for target practice when he was stationed in Germany. The thing is amazing to shoot and will shoot any cheap ammo I put in it accurately. My P22 on the other hand only reliably likes to shoot CCR Minimags. At the end of the day though I just find the P22 much more fun to shoot. Just something about it puts a smile on my face, which is what the Ruger does not do.

Received an odd text from a friend the other day..
He works for a company in Florida that developed some crazy coating for firearms which basically negates the need to ever lubricate important parts of the weapon. He sent me that picture of 146 coated AR15 bolt carriers and 186 coated M16 carriers that the boss didn't like the machine finish on.
That's where they all ended up. I'm like What the **** man!? He had to drop the hint (asking for my mailing address) of a complete BCG prototype he wanted to send me for Christmas! Decided I'm going to build a carbine to throw that BCG in and don't ever plan to clean or lube any part of the rifle. They've got an in house M249 in shop with over a million rounds through w/out clean or lube and some video of an M16 which was buried in the sand for several days, dug up, shook off, loaded and fired without malfunction.

Well, my 2nd trip to the range with this gun at 30' today, a Christmas Eve tradition is born.
Getting better. Any good sites on drills I should be running to increase accuracy? I need some advice on my left hand position. I know the left hand takes 80% of the control, but the more I limp-wrist with my right, the lighter I am on the trigger and more accurate. Is this wrong? How much of my left hand needs to be on the back-strap?
I'm going to check a USPSA match next month. I already see where this is going, just 250 rounds in.

Got this for a Christmas present - It's my first gun -
It's a Taurus PT638 .380 - I actually got a gift card for Gander Mtn for the present and I knew with the card and some of my money I want to stay around the $400 range. I was really wanting a Ruger P95 after reading online about it, but when I got it in my hand I didn't like it all. I almost bought a Taurus 357, but I'm not looking to start a big collection and I wanted to get a gun I can do everything with.
I got a chance to take to the range yesterday and fire it for the first time. I actually tried to hit some target for a while, then we shot some apples with some hollowpoints, and last I just ran thru a full clip real quick...
All in all I'm pretty happy w/ my choice..I plan to get my conceal/carry permit soon.

Anyone else see something wrong in this picture???
Finger on the trigger, don't ever put your finger on the trigger until your ready to fire. It may sound stupid but many ND's happen just like that and an unfortunate few get killed because of this.

Apparently Taurus used to be owned by the parent company for S&W. Buddy of mine has a S&W gun that is a "Taurus" and has the same symbol on it. There is surprisingly little info (at least that I can find) online on there semi-auto handguns. And all the videos online are Brazillian/South American people. It's got a lot of features for the price and I really like it so far and it does have a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the gun safety lesson. I've taken a basic class. Normally I do not hold the gun with finger on the trigger, I just did for the picture. Besides the fact I know there were no bullets in the clip or the chamber the gun has a red tab on the back that sticks out when the slide has been cocked and a tiny flap on the side of the chamber that actually shows you when there's a bullet in there. So I'm confident in my ability to not kill anyone around me (by accident anyway).

Not intending to lecture, just a bit of advice.. Best firearm handing practice is to pretend that all guns are loaded even if they're stripped down to nothing. Getting into the habit of assuming they're always loaded will get your mind set in the direction of muzzle control also. Guns are mechanical devices built by man, so they've got their faults. Never believe loaded chamber indicators, I've seen them stick in the "loaded" position and in "unloaded" position. I've also seen mechanical safety switches fail too, allowing a hammer to drop with the firearm on "Safe." Get yourself in that mindset and you'll never have an accidental discharge. The absolutely most reliable and best safety a firearm can have is between your ears.
On another rant, I can't ******* stand going to a gun shop to see some ******* handed a gun from the display case to have them immediately point it at someone. Makes me want to punch them in the face...
