they are the mags that came with the gun (they are 100% factory) - and i did notice there is a bit of play on the bottom where it's not quite flush - maybe taurus can work on the mechanism that holds the mag in there....

I've heard awesome things about the Bersa Thunder. DA/SA and about as "loaded" as you're gonna get in a .380. They are a bit taller and longer than most of the other .380's, making it not a true pocket pistol. It was just too big for me... still looking for a good deal on a PF9. CDT was selling the black and parkerized for $221 shipped a few weeks ago and I missed it, now they're sold out. Everywhere else wants about $250 shipped.. which is $270 after transfer... NFW... that gun I can actually get for less at a Gunshow.

They do have the grey framed ones for $224 shipped... I'm still debating. I love the feel of the Kahr CM9, but it's gonna be almost $200 more. Then I start thinking that I really only need a .380 and I'm back to a S&W Bodyguard for about $380... it never ends.

My father has an old Browning Hi-Power. It has the **** eagle stamped just above the trigger on the frame. I believe it was made in Belgium. It is worn, and obviously used. Bluing is well worn on the top front of the slide, where it contacts the holster. It is in very good working condition, and includes an original(?) leather holster (no markings that I remember).

Any ideas on what it's worth?

As my dad's health is failing (the big C), I have started the process of getting my CCW. Is this a good carry pistol in spite of it's size?

Any gun is good to have, but the BHP is still a big gun, check out the CZ-82 I posted above or Sam's post before that for a smaller C&C gun.

If your looking for the guns worth, I'd have it appraised.

Received this email Saturday. Vote and be surprised at the total and how fast it changes

Subject: HOLDER SAYS NO RIGHT TO POSSESS GUNS

I don't know if this will do any good --- but, it's so easy, go ahead and vote. At least enjoy the results that appear after you vote ---

Click on USATODAY.COM below. We need to stick together on this one.

TAKES 10 SECONDS ... DO IT AND PASS IT ON Own a Gun? Please Keep This Moving Guess they were not happy with the poll results the first time so USA today is running another one... Vote now Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro- gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court's accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms. Here's what you need to do:

First - vote on this one. Second- launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published. Click below to vote.

Okay-

I have a Keltec PF9 which I bought to carry, then ended up buying my Glock and rarely carry the PF9. Right now it's pretty cold and I'm a medium framed guy so I can conceal a full size glock without any problem but when it warms up I plan to carry the PF9.

Paid $270 at a show for the PF9, jewed them down waiving cash in their face and almost walked on the sale because I didn't like the color and they wouldn't budge. It's a great pistol, I've run probably 1000 rounds through it without ANY malfunction at all. Super simple to break down and clean but difficult to master shooting with great accuracy. It does have a DAO trigger which you must stage for accuracy, but if you're drawing and blasting at human sized target 7 yards away it's not a problem especially if you practice the trigger pull a lot.

Carry with Hornady 185 grain XTP JHP's, 15+1 with a spare magazine in my pocket.

That's the PF9 over top of the Glock. Funny enough, while it doesn't fit properly I can slip the PF9 into my Glock Supertuck holster and with a tight fitting shirt tucked in you can see absolutely nothing. Have a friend who carries in his front jeans pocket or an ankle holster a Walther PPK which is about the same size as the bersa 380, he loves it. Another friend carries a Kahr CW9 in a crossbreed and loves it, I enjoy shooting the Kahr. Feels like a glock only smaller in my hand, a little more comfortable with a great trigger pull. Don't know anyone with a bodyguard, but I've heard good things and they feel nice in my meathook of a hand.

I've seen run of the mill Hipower sell for $800.00+ on a regular basis.

I've shot the Bodyguard... lasers take all the fun out of everything, but are a training tool with no equal. They show you everything you're doing wrong. Trigger pull was LOOOOONG, but I could hit the out that paper anywhere I wanted out to the max travel of the indoor range.

Apparently they sold everywhere about a year ago for $280, but as S&W has been unable to keep up with supply, the price is now about $400 shipped but good luck finding anybody with them in stock... THAT for a .380.

And I just saw a mother-loving NIB 9mm Sub2000 on Gunbroker sell for $500... WTFAPT???

rleete... also think of the impression you'd make with the jury if you ever have to defend yourself with a gun engraved with a schwastica... in no way can anybody smart on todays CCW laws tell you that weapon should ever leave your gunsafe.

For CCW purposes, there are people who will tell you that YOU MUST CARRY A .45 or you will die horribly in a fiery gunbattle with a crazy Uzi-toting crack addict who just wants your spare change. In reality, the odds are that if you ever need to draw and fire the weapon, you will fire one or two shots at the most, and your attacker won't get a shot off or might not even be carrying a gun.

Modern defensive ammunition has made some great technological leaps forward in the past decade. Today's .380 is yesterdays 9mm. I'm not going to advocate carrying a NA .22mag revolver as your primary CCW piece, but heading our for a jog with one of those makes more sense than packing a 1911 in an ankle-holster under your sweatpants.

I very much like the idea of a modern sub-compact .380, but I also very much lover DA/SA. There are very few inexpensive options in that caliber and action, and they are all much bigger than the DAO options. I LOVE THE LOOK/FEEL/PRICE of the SA/DA .380 Bersa Thunder, but it's significantly bigger than the DAO 9mm. It's a tough choice. I know the .380 will do what I want it to do, but I like the more CCW friendly nature of the PF9 and it's 9mm punch.

I couldn't hit a damn thing with the LCP and hated the trigger, so it's out. I'm not buying the Taurus whatever .380 DAO... too many teething issues although Taurus customer support it supposed to rival Kel-tec's.

It continues...

Yeah, I did the regular searches. What I meant to ask was, is it (having been a war trophy) worth enough to keep it as more of an investment vs. actually using it? Or, just sell/trade it in on a more practical carry piece. And, whether anyone though it was too big as compared to the compacts everyone seems to be getting.

Thanks. He's 86, and actually appears to be handling it quite well. But it is inoperable, and it's only a matter of time at his age.

All of those $280 prices were from mid-summer... and every once-in-awhile they get ONE somehow and put it up for auction, and the price goes through the roof.

NIB Sub2000's go for $450 every day on Gunbroker... and that's about the only place you can find them (and the other auction sites).

I have called KelTec to ask them about when Sub2k's will be available to the masses again, and I get nothing. They wouldn't tell me what production numbers were like or who I could buy one from. Apparently, KT only sells to about a dozen wholesalers, who then farm guns out as they get orders, but KT has zero knowledge or what retailer eventually end up with their guns. You absolutely cannot find them online "in stock" and they've dried up at all the gunshows.

Their new KSG shotgun apparently has about a 25% return rate for defects and go for $1500... with an MSRP of $800. I do like the fact that they'll take the 1.75" mini-shells for like 20 total rounds.

And that sucks. I'm finding S2k's around here for reasonable prices, but they're all in a caliber or magazine which I do not want.

Really sucks because six months ago they were ALL OVER gun shows and I've yet to see a new one in the last 10 shows!

There's a true honest to god transferable HK MP5 for sale on GlockTalk right now. If I had $19k to invest in a neat toy I'd be ***** deep...

My GF is about to go back to Houston and I want to send her off with a pistol. I'm thinking about directing her toward an M&P9C because we can share magazines. I'm leaning towards a compact because she will conceal/carry. What do most women need in a pistol aside from something that fits in their hand? I can't imagine its much different from a man's needs which are reliability, and a gun that's good for executions.

In my opinion, nothing different: ergonomics, simplicity and some training/practice. Personally, for those of us that don't do a lot of "tactical" training or shooting sports, I am a big fan of the Crimson Trace or other lasers that don't require you to flip a switch to have them come on.
