Have you guys ever considered actually becoming a zombie and joining the party?
Geez, live a little. Expand your horizons.

LOL - see my first post in original ZA thread.

Definitely agree with shearhead - .22s get left out in the open, probably loaded half the time, and no kid's daddy is going to notice if 10 .22 rounds go missing. My dad taught me to shoot "real" guns with a .22, so as a 10 year old, if you gave me bullets and a gun, I was competent enough to make it go "bang", but I knew that the recoil was more or less non-existent.

This would be my pick:

Carbine and pistol combos that use not only the same round, but the same magazines.

Optional:

18-20" barrel pump shotgun with pistol grip, either no stock or over-folder
12-14" barrel AR15

I like a plasma rifle/assault rifle combo. When the plasma rifle overheats, switch to the assault rifle. By the time that's empty, the plasma rifle has cooled. You're then of course left with a empty assault rifle....

So I'd probably have to say dual spikers. You can hold lots of ammo, and reload one while firing the other, or use both at the same time for huge damage capabilities. Granted it'll take a little long to reload since you're holding two, so take that into account when emptying both at the same time. Holstering one gives you the benifit of it's powerful malee, with probable head decapitation possibilities, although it hasn't been proven to do so.

Most of the guns you guys are posting are cool shooters but the weight of the ammo kills the deal. 200 rounds of .223 is heavy and that's a small bullet...

That's why my two choices are .22 winmag and 9mm.

.22wmr weighs more per round than a .22lr, but not enough to really matter. I'd bet you could easily carry 10k rounds without much of a problem. The 9mm would be fairly heavy though. A cardboard box with plastic tray full of 50 9x19 weighs 655 grams, cardboard and tray alone are 70 grams.

Ammo would be more important to me than personal items or food so I'd offset the weight of my pack that way.

its pretty sad when I get better potential realistic "zombie apocalypse" weapon info from a car forum, and not the over exaggerated "zombie" forums...

I have a surprisingly reliable GSG-522 22lr carbine and a savage .22lr bolt-action rifle, along with a walther p22 22lr... see a pattern? I also have a .40 sigma and a beretta 380acp handgun with 500+ rounds for both (I buy in bulk, so I dont have to buy for a bit, save the $$$)... and a decommissioned M16A1 kit I bought online and built that has never been fired nor will I ever fire it because it makes for a really cool wall piece and investment... but it is functional.

I do want a saiga shotgun soo bad, and its my dream zombie gun.

But as for realistic survival, I have 200 ft. of 550 survival cord, a collapsible shovel, urban and rural survival guide books, my airman's manual, my mil-issued gerber, sturdy 33gal. plastic bags, food ration bars and a bunch of MREs that I took and saved... (my favorite flavahs), 2 water bottles, top ramen, zippo, lighter fluid, flint, mini-hatchet, compass, medical kit (with some stuff I nabbed from the medical wing during deployment...), water purifying tablets, small teflon pot, weather proof matches, emergency glow sticks, 3 flares, couple of climbing carbiners, flashlight and my radio... all in/on my mil-issue backpack. As for defense, I choose my sigma .40 and for right now, my GSG-5 since its the only semi-auto .22 i have. As for disaster preparedness where my own home is still safe, I have all that plus my weapons, my MOP gear, an extra set of vacuum sealed gulf war era old mop gear w/ mask, whatever canned food and water I have in the home (lol), 2 gulf war era flak vests w/ plates, 2 kevlar helmets, and Spam.

It really helps to befriend those poor bastards that have their AFSC/MOS in supply.

I don't go to other forums.. But I'm sure they think this is the only survival weapon needed:

Either that or Automatics, right?

Just remember the 3's of survival. 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. That being said water should be at the top of your preps. You need to carry at least a gallon and have a way to filter or treat as needed. Try to keep your packs under 70lbs.

Also, when you pack your packs put the heavy stuff in light and invest in a GOOD backpack. Keep it tight and go on a hike with it to see what its like.

LOL so true, I have no idea how I ended up on the zombie apocalypse forums, just google searches to the weird side of the internet again i guess...

Those stupid morons in those forums believe in nothing more than weaponry and little survival gear, they also think they are going to be set being hunkered in their own homes when a disaster strikes, they also believe they are going to save others by having more weapons than needed to pass around, and being able to carry a full 80lb. duffle bag along with a 60lb. backpack full of pointless survival luxuries, not including the added 50lbs in weapons and an over exaggerated amount of ammo... they even have started having zombie meets, where they plan defense strategy together, while claiming airsoft and paintball to be a competent form of combat training.... needless to say, I got banned from one of those interweb ---- passages for being the 5 post non-introductionary noob boob that ripped into some geek for thinking CoD will save his life.

I've never played airsoft or paintball. Trying to convince my department head that it'd be totally legit to paintball through our client services call center floors while occupied.. Not sure why he won't go along with it.

Hope those zombie idiots leave one bullet for themselves..
