I am not sure wtf it is but it sounded bad. Car ran like a champ when I parked it so I don't think it's a problem with the internals. When I did the coolant reroute I had to pull off the timing belt...when I did that I locked the cams with wrenches and marked the timing belt. I also pulled the cas (didn't mark it though). I am hoping between the two timing is fucked up and the noise is just my exhaust being thrashed against the steering rod/tunnel/rear shelf. What do you guys think?

Right now my car is parked in the back waiting for me to tear into it. I'm on the fence between replacing the turbo, fixing the exhaust issues, etc to get it back on the road, or just pulling parts to make enough cash to buy something else in the meantime.
I'll probably just replace the parts on the miata to get it running again, but other thoughts have crossed my mind.

I don't want to, believe me. Thats the ******* LAST thing I would want to do. However, times are tough and not having a DD of my own is killing me. Getting rides, longboarding around, borrowing a car, etc, is getting old really quick.
I found an awesome deal on CL today and WISH I had the extra cash laying around to pick it up. I was thinking of what I could sell off on the miata to come up with the cash, but thats basically everything drivetrain wise. Which then had me thinking if I did do that, I could always start over with a LS motor, but thats just more money. ******* money!!!

I got my beater for 900 bucks, she takes care of me good. I also figured out why car no startie startie. Apparently when I put the cam gears back on I didn't torque one all the way/didn't torque it at all. Sooooo my exhaust cam was freewheelin it. Thank goodness it's not an interference engine...and I didn't sheer the cam gear nobbie.

I had an escort beater my buddy gave me... i turned it into this:
Before the "carsmash" i got to blow up the motor and gut the thing. THAT was fun. I also did a plymoth laser and a nissan pathfinder in the 3 years that I ran the car smash as a frat philanthropy event for childrens miracle network

Not at all what I was expecting for a pic. I love it, it also is a good visual for how I feel rite now.
I was going to check the timing (so I had the cover off) when I decided to try her again and noticed the t-belt wobbling around and thought "self, what's going on up there?" Also when I first turned the key to the "on" position there was a bang like an m80 went off. Still can't figure out what that was...perhaps I ignited one of the cylinders that blasted into the intake manifold.
