I think this is the point of the Deltawing, exactly. It will also use less consumables while doing so. If the rules classify by power-to-weight ratio, then this is an ingenious way to go faster while still remaining "equal".

Oh I know what the advantage is but that was the whole point of the project. They are not gonna spend millions to develop a whole new platform just so it can be slightly faster. It was suppose to be a new design that used weight and enhanced aero as an advantage while sacrificing hp. Are you trying to make the argument that it is not impressive because they did not use the same design as everyone else?

I'm not sure to whom you're directing this. To be clear, I'm all for radical new designs and fresh (mechanical) blood in racing.

I'm just saying lighter car will be faster. Because lighter car is 5th and not fastest, I wonder if design shape is costing them instead of benefiting them. Or if there is some other shortcoming?

Just because it finished in fifth does not mean it is not the fastest. I do not know what lap times it put down. Its position in fifth probably had more to do with starting in the very back of the field and having to work its way through traffic than its actually speed around the track.

I also wonder if the pilot of it has been able to fully adjust to its handling characteristics or if, as you say, it has any large drawbacks due to its design.

More vidz.

So this was a race in June, it was NASCAR weekend and we were invited to race on Saturday before the NASCAR K&N West series. I got wrecked in qualifying, spent all day repairing the car. Replaced the right front corner and had to change the oil pan. The car went air born off the track and when it landed I must have hit a rock or something rather large and knocked a hole in the pan.

Long story short, I started last. The video starts at a re start with 3 laps to go. I clearly hit him pretty hard at the drop of the green flag, there was no question there. But in tech, he came up to my car cussing me out, calling me a dirty driver because he said I spun him in turn 7. I told him I never touched him, he said, "I felt you smash in the back of me and spin me out." Unfortunately my fans kind of drown out the dialog.

I was called a ******* fa99ot, cheater, dirty driver etc etc. I have been racing since I was 11. I have never once intentionally spun someone or wrecked someone.

You can see my chubby self getting mad, thats my brother, the short dark hair guy that was standing next to me and drove my car away. I look at the front end of the car, because it was toed in a bunch, the impact from hoping the curb with the left front coming out of the NASCAR short chute sheered off on of the steering arm bolts on the spindle. Luckily it still had one, or turn 10 could have got exciting...

What are we looking at? Looks like you nudged him in the first shot, then he spun all on his own in the later shot, presumably later in the race?

That's exactly what you're looking at, where he lost it by himself is where he claimed I punted him. It's the edited version of the video I sent to him proving I never touched him when he spun.

The first video is of the race, the parts involving him. And the second video is what happened in tech after the race

One of my buddies in HPDE had a rear brake rotor failure in a braking zone before a tight turn at Sebring. He said he heard a bang and the car lurched forward and spun out ending up in the grass. He thought he had been rear ended. The car didn't actually lurch forward though, it just lost some of its braking and felt that way. Until he figured that out he was looking for the sonofabitch who hit him.

Here is another one from last November, it was our Nationals. This is the heat race. I almost ruined the entire weekend in turn 10 on lap 1. The first 3 or 4 laps I was driving out of the mirrors so bad, missing all my marks. Just driving like an *** in general. I Q'd on pole, started P1 in the heat, won. Started P1 in the main, fell back to 4th with an oil leak. Got back my 3rd and then 2nd blew a clutch basket. So I finished 2nd in the main which let me win the Championship by 1 point.

Skip ahead to 7:40 for the start.

This is about 3 laps into my first W2W race, so there is probably some "bad driving here" considering I've never, ever gone W2W before.

The good racing was the second hour with the "pro" SM guys and a WC driver in a Saturn who I battled with, got out of the car, and came up to me. I thought he was going to be pissed about me driving dirty but he only had good things to say like, "That was awesome!!!"

Please critique. I have really never done this before and just applied a few things I learned in Forza. I was shocked by how much it's like a video game.

Here's one where I made a couple more mcsteaks, I also wen't two wide in 7 "which you don't do" and thought that was pretty cool. The dude in the yellow car has huge ***** to go outside me right there, I would not have done that. That takes a lot of trust because if you put two off there, the car almost certainly ends-up on the roof.

Not bad driving, but bad wrenching habits created an inferno in this race car:
