First time drifting since turbo install

Honestly, I'm impressed. Last miata I saw drifting was at an amateur event in Sonoma. Any angle and it either stopped the car or spun it. Must of been stock suspension with cut springs or something, it would NOT drift. Good work.

Yes, Miatas are known as being terrible cars to drift because they have such a low polar moment of inertia. Many cars are far easier to set and make hold a drift angle.

I'm not a fan of turning a miata into a drift car, especially since the Whoisdannygeorge movement, but it looks like you're doing all right. Not the easiest car to keep sideways and not look full retard doing it. props.

not sure about that, my track car was owned by 2 drifters before me and the car drifted pretty well for them. I'm not doing drift events or anything but when the rear lets go I can hold it or straighten it out pretty easily. I changed a few things for track but not as much as one would think. then again, they sold it so perhaps you are right.

not sure about that, my track car was owned by 2 drifters before me and the car drifted pretty well for them. I'm not doing drift events or anything but when the rear lets go I can hold it or straighten it out pretty easily. I changed a few things for track but not as much as one would think. then again, they sold it so perhaps you are right.

Had a play date with some friends. These were closed roads in an abandoned development that's been deserted since the 80's, so we weren't being crazy with the possibility of traffic coming out of nowhere

Also, I have an annoying issue. My manifold bolts managed to back themselves out once during the shoot and again two weeks later (yesterday). Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? I'm going to try some lock washers to see if that helps prevent the problem. Definitely don't feel like removing my turbo every two weeks to tighten the bolts

Manifold > head ? or the turbo flange bolts?
Inconel hardware.
Everything hot side needs too handle heat well with little expansion.
Though my buddy with his turbo IS300 ( typical huge turbo 2jz ) used ARP hardware with success. Till he blew up his bearings and we had to overnight parts from Japan (a whole 2jz-gte longblock)

I've heard about "the compound" in FL, think I came across it on youtube or something - there were just some dudes driving for miles and miles out there. They were pretty adamant that you should bring a GPS unit to not get lost and run out of gas or something, cause it's so massive. Pretty neat, looks like a fun place to drive a small car like a miata in a spirited manner.
As for the manifold bolts backing out, NOPE nobody ever, especially on this forum, has had that happen. You are the only one ever, congrats.
