I had a 12" long borla 3.5" dia muffler on first... it was LOOOOOUD. Then i got a 5x11x22 magnaflow and the turbo whistle is louder than the exhaust.. i did drive it few times with an open wastegate and it is kinda loud. Not you cant hear anything in the car loud but noticeably louder.

Is this a 2.5 or 3" system?

Jason can you post up a vid of yours? Preferably just like Brains so we can compare.
I wanna know how much interior noise your flapper kills off

I bet it does a good job.

Honestly, in cruise mine is silent, so i wouldn't need it. The turbo spool in that video where I'm really not giving it much throttle is louder. In the video where you don't hear exhaust I'm not in overrun, I'm acutally on throttle; I made sure to always have the motor loaded. It does get loud in boost, but it's not overwhelming--if I wired the wastegate open myself it would be annoying.

If I drove FaelFlora car, I'd kill myself. That's the loudest miata I've ever heard, his soccer mom's minivan is hilarous in boost as well.

If you want any other video, let me know.

Mine is the same. When I got that big magnaflow installed, my first drive made it very apparent what a rattle trap my car really was. And yes, I could hear the turbo over the exhaust.

Yeah, rattles become your enemy. Luckily my stereo is loud as ---- and I can drive 70mph with the top down on the hwy with it turned up and can't even hear wind noise and hear the stereo perfectly without distortion.

Damn you brain, you are succeeding in talking me out of my superawesome boost cutout plans and just replicating your exhaust setup. I think I'll do a flapper too just in case, as long as Timmah can build me one so I don't have to buy a Dynomax VT and haxorz it up.

Just a bit louder and deeper than stock.. just about the same loudness as the road noise. The turbo muffles it a lot though. If you open the wastegate it does get louder enough to notice it but not enough to where it would prevent communication in a normal voice.
