Yep, if they don't start a pull when the exhaust is glowing yellow, it's not safe for the track in my opinion.

Interesting enough after tuning on the dyno with no hint of knock I could drive up the "cut" on hwy1 and get knock. So I've pulled some timing since that tune. Makes me wonder whether I'm ingesting oil mist via my PCV valve while coasting and that's what's causing the knock?
I assume you're listening through the Polish det cans?

Polish Det Cans are excellent. I could correlate with my Hydra knock logs making it easy to decide where to pull timing.

Yeah, I guess it's likely that any temp compensation by the Hydra would have been different on the dyno vs the road.

This was a year ago so my memory fades but when I pulled timing I made sure to also do so in the surrounding cells. So the dyno might not have been hitting some of those cells.

Aaron, sorry for the thread hijack!

The dyno itself wouldn't be the issue, it's in how it's used and setup. You can make the dyno apply more or less load. Let's say it take 3 seconds to pull from 2000-6000 rpm in 2nd gear on a level street and the same section of road would take 8 seconds to make the same 2-6k pull in 4th. You've added more load in by going from 2nd to 4th. The dyno needs to be setup the same way. If you have the dyno load set too low, you'll be able to apply much more load to the engine on the street. This is where how you end up with different results on the street. With the eddy current dynos you could make the 2-6k pull in 4th last 2 seconds or 2 hours. The power reading the dyno would give would be the same, you're just simulating two entirely different driving scenarios.

Like any tool, the dyno is only as useful as you make it.

Yeah that is good to know. The guy who tuned my car is a pretty knowledgeable guy. He worked in N. Carolina for years and worked on Porsche cup cars and currently crew cheifs for a daytona team. Hes been building/tuning porches for a long time. He was showing me all the different ways the dyno can be set up last time I was there and it's pretty cool. He tuned with both load settings. Tuning the RPM at one load and also the load at varying RPM. Did that make sense?

So I measured my Rotrex and crank pulley. Looks like it's actually a 105mm Rotrex pulley and a 127mm crank (or thereabouts). Which means I am only spinning the Rotrex to 96xxRPM instead of it's 10,500RPM. Going to throw a smaller pulley on and lower my rev limit a bit. I thought I had asked to order the Rotrex to have it geared to it's max RPM, but I guess not.

Had some fun yesterday at a autoX in Bellingham. I was the talk of the event because of how loud my car was. Tried a few things like steel wool to quiet it down but at the end of the day they just gave up and let me run. Just said to make sure it's quiet for next time. According to Anton (wayne_curr) this is the first time he has ever seen anyone get talked to about sound. I asked him before hand if I should be worried and he said they had formula cars over 100db before with no issues. guess it was just too loud.

Anyhow... placed second overall behind bbundy and pax'd 4th IIRC. He FTD'd with a 50.9 and the closet behind was me with a 52.89. I'll get you next time Bob...

Just received my intake manifold from GotPSI?. Tapered plenum, CNC velocity stacks, LS1 TB... mmmmmmmm

Going to drop my pulley off at a local shop to get turned down a bit to 94mm and add some ridges on the side to keep the pulley centered.

Here comes more boosts.

Wanted to see what the car did in the 1/4 and I ran a 13.909 @102MPH last night. Based on my terrible 60' the car has a 13.5 in it, but not with me driving. I was up against a new Audi S4, and he got me on the 60' and ran a faster 1/4 but I had a higher trap and beat him to the finish. I'm on the right.

Finally got the new flange on the manifold and bolted er up with a fancy hondata gasket. New Bosch EV14's are here and all I need now is a 45* coupler to finish the piping. Tuning is set for next Monday with the new Rotrex pulley.

Yeah. That's an old pic from when I got it. Pulled it off and when I put the tb on today I used an OEM chev gasket.

Finished all the prep for the dyno tomorrow. Charge piping all done as well as the new coolant routing. We'll see how she does.

Took the car for a quick rip around the block... I have to say having not run a TPS before this... it's amazing how much better the car is on tip in, even without tuning so far. I'm looking forward to how much better it will be for light cruise and tip in after tomorrow.

If you don't run a TPS... get one. Trust me

I went this morning. However it was on a different dyno (mustang) which notoriously reads low so it's hard to make a fair comparison. The car is way more powerful, and wants to keep revving past 8k. Based on all the local guys, the Mustang here reads about 15% lower than the dyna pack I originally tuned on and 18-20% lower than a dynojet.

See other cars for comparison of how heartbreak it is (http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/can...coquitlam.html, http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=762551). At the end of the day, numbers don't mean much but it would be nice to know the difference. I may go and hook up and do a few pulls on the same dynapack when I have some extra cash to do so.

Also, even going 10mm smaller on the pulley I only gained 1PSI. I belive he intake manifold removed a lot of restriction.

Here are the plots.

Considering your torque numbers dropped like a brick after 6500 rpm before I would say the intake mani is defiantly doing its job.
