Hello,
Last year I purchased a liquid silver 2011 PRHT Manual Miata MX5. I learned through this site that doing a tune on the car was not worth the price tag, as the hp to price ratio was not that good. I am looking to make the car have quicker acceleration due to the heavier hard top. I learned that the header was one of the most restrictive things for the exhaust. I also learned that adding a turbo to the car is one of the best ways for hp/tq to dollar ratio purposes. I was looking in the search for NC turbo in the search, but nothing really came up. I was looking at getting a garret 2860r. I know it is good to have a goal before going forward so I want this turbo to not compromise the spooling time. Can someone point me in the right direction for someone who did this before on their 2.0L? Thank you.

Add: I was thinking of starting with the goodwin racing street header, but I read that it is only recommended to get the max power header.

Look at the Flyin' Miata supercharger kit for your car.
That's what I have on my 2007 MX-5 PRHT since November 2010 and it's wonderful. FM is hard at work in regards to getting their CARB rating (it's why they just purchased a 2015 MX-5) in case that's an issue for you. Their ecu tuner - Joe McGlugan - of Dynotronics in Texas will do wonders with you once installed.

Welcome, they're awesome little cars. My NC has been an absolute blast to own, even staying stock. (Time to fix that?)
It sounds like you need a direction on what you want to do with the car. A header and tune is a long way from a 2860. One's a pretty minor deal, one is (probably) a bunch of custom work, higher risk and more ongoing costs.

I saw the super 20 and the targa NC, and lusted over them, I heard that garret was very good. I have little use for the car more than a fun mobile, and I want to help unlock the potential that is the MX5.
I will have to save more going for the FM SC, but good things come to those who wait I guess.

PS: previously owned a stock 1996 NA (purchased used in 1999), the highly modified for racing 1992, and currently (which I love) the Touring 2011 PRHT NC in Stormy Blue Mica color (not my first choice but it'll do) which also was bought used with 20k miles in 2014.
