Default Hi, New 05' MazdaSpeed Op

Hi there,

Looking forward to sharing my ideas and experiences with you guys this year as well as reading up on your builds and stuff. I'll be picking up my new miata this weekend (a metallic grey MSM miata, bone stock w/ 75k miles).

this Mazdaspeed will be somewhat of a pepped up daily driver when I'm done with it...I've got a couple things in mind that I'd like to do.

cool

Do you have any definite plans for the vehicle? Mods? Expectations or goals?. Or just pepped up pepper?

goal is to have 200+ HP....I know I'll end up with more than 200, but I just want a reliable, snappy little DD.

the first thing that will happen:
1) MSPNP3 as soon as I get the $$$
2) Already have a set of 425cc injectors.
3) soon after that a meth/injection set-up.

intake and exhaust bits will be replaced with something similar to FM's "little enchilada" over time
(probably going to piece together because it looks so simple)

And I will post pictures as soon as I get it home, all of the pictures in this guys add have him in it...kind of weird

BTW when I logged on I saw an add on the right for K-Y sex lubricant...I lol'ed

I think a meth/water injection kit is completely unnecessary for your goals and only serves to add additional failure points and complication to the overall system. Not to mention if you tune the car in such a way that meth/water injection is necessary then you will have to ensure that tank stays full or you could damage your engine. Just my thoughts.

This should be your only purchase for a very long time, Learn to tune first!!

2) Already have a set of 425cc injectors.

What Brand of injectors?

Meth injection is pointless for your goals!

Few things,

One (wrong) way to look at modifications IMO is to buy each little piece until you have your complete package. I have learned that if I had actually waited and created a grand master build list I would of saved myself a lot of headaches.

If I were doing your stockish MSM 200+ build I would do the FMII no electronics kit with a GT2560

You're going to need it!

^^^ This is why Meth is a no go , Get that MSPnP and add e85 instead

The payment for the car is ready, But the bank took a little longer to prepare all of the paperwork so it looks like I wont be ready to pick it up until next weekend

oh, trust me, the MSPNP will be purchased very soon. like probably within the same month.

the injectors are MAZDA RX-8 yellow tops.

Right now I am viewing the MSM base map in tuner studio...I'm curious as to how well it will with the initial base map being that the ECU is specifically for the MSM and the map is specifically for the MSM.

Do you think WI would work with the stock ECU? My friend has a pressure switch operated kit, just uses a tee'd in pressure switch to a MAP line and a basic relay tapped into 12v powersource

would the ECU actually have a reaction to sparkadvance/timing at the top end being that I ran a smaller nozzle and set it around 6psi?

obviously it would lower intake temps a little

I wouldn't count on the stock ECU to know what WI is...

You don't need WI to get 200hp.

A better intercooler will get you lower intake temps without the need to refill your boost juice.

And the wastegate on the msm is pre set to about 8psi. You would need a lower wg spring to get a lower psi.
Which I also don't recommend

If you have no access to e85 and have terrible quality fuel in your area, you can do w/i for a little safety if you wish. But there are many things you can do before that which would be more important.

I need to go read up on e85 because I don't know much about it. I feel like i've seen it somewere out here...I know a good bit about W/I and I am a fan...and its obviously not a necessity with 8psi right now.

MSPNP will be the first performance mod.

anyways, I don't have the car yet!!

I just got my check from the bank today, just have to meet up with the seller and take her home!

I have to drive home through the Appalachian mountains...I'm going to pretend to be Richard Hammond in his MX-5 reviews on TG...I'm a die hard TOP GEAR fan BTW
