Default Mazda noob from Wichita, Ks

Hi,

New guy, Justin, here. Picked up a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata just a few months ago. I already broke a rule and posted up info on the transmission not long after i got the car. Was notchy and other typical 6speed problems. But i changed the fluid when i changed the clutch, fluid to the Ford Synthetic fluid and a Flyin' Miata Stage 1 clutch. Goal is to get the car to the 220+whp, then start building a motor to get to a 500whp build. Not my first time around building a car but first time to Miatas and first turbo car. Will be searching for the in's and out's to get the car to the 500whp mark and be poking in and out for other ideas. If there is anyone else from Wichita, Ks i would like to meet up with ya!

yeah 500 is the goal. started at 350 and the more i ride in other friends cars the more i want 500! We will see. like i said gonna build an intake, finish the exhaust, do a boost controller and something to control fuel and get the factory setup up to par with aftermarket turboed cars. then i will start the stock piling!

Don't bother with a stroker kit, there expense and don't yield much in terms of results. Your gonna want to check out FaeFlora's build thread, he's gunning for 500+ horsepower at some ridiculous amount of boost.

Don't bother with a stroker? I'm sorry but it's common since the extra displacement makes it A LOT easier to get 500whp!!!! You may not HAVE to stroke it but in the long run its easier and more efficient to get the horse power out of a 2.0/2.1 liter than a 1.8...

Failed to check in on this thread. I may start a build thread but not sure it's worth it and my snails pace build. The car now has intake and full exhaust, also wilwood bbk on the front end. I have been sitting on my ms2e and 650cc fic injectors for a while. I tend to make alot of excuses to not install it. I am scared of it to be honest. I have a dd now so I need to just do it and get comfortable tuning it.
I just picked up a 99-00 motor to build for it.

I did have some questions. To reach my goals I am planning g to build my motor to spin 8k and I know valve springs are a requirement. But to make the 4-500 mark as easily as possible I want cams and extensive head work. The head work will be fairly easy as I have a very reputable shop to do it. But what cams should I look at? Bottom end is e85/race gas specific and gonna do what Sav recommends and use 11:1 compression pistons and have the head DE shrouded to 10.5:1. And also plan to either have a short runner intake mani made or do the b18 intake path.
Recommendations?

Also didn't realize how different the car truly looks now. In the next few weeks I will pick the car up from its resting place and shoot some recent photos... from the pictures in this thread it has been plastidipped and lowered and has gaytastic 15x8s 0et wheels on it...
