Default Adventures in EBC (or, "Conflict with additional injectors PT2/4")

I have been happily enjoying my boosted, 'squirted 99 for some time now (I have a whole build thread in the "Builds" section if you want to torture yourself).

Anyway, I decided, about a month ago to "go electric" and set aside my trusty old MBC for a High-Tech EBC. I have a MSPNP Gen2 (from DIY Autotune) that's supposed to have everything already built-in, so all I have to do is wire in a solenoid (also from DIY), tune the settings and I'll be all grown up like the Big Boys.

So, I got the solenoid, wired it up, set everything up in Closed Loop mode (for starters) and...nothing. The (internal) wastegate wasn't opening at the commanded level. Well maybe I screwed up the wiring - me and "electrical stuff" are not the best of friends - so I traced everything out with my DVM and it all seemed to be good.

With a little "Google-Fu" I discovered I/O Test Mode and I used that - with some assistance from Matt Cramer - to determine that the driver for the BOOST signal in the MSPNP2 was probably bad. My choices were to ship the MS off to DIY and wait for it to be fixed (NO WAY that was going to happen! I can't live without BOOST), or use OUTPUT2 as the signal for controlling the solenoid.

That was all fine and good EXCEPT I was using version 3.3.0 of the firmware, and it did not support assigning OUTPUT2 as the boost control signal! I had to upgrade to version 3.4.2 - which I was afraid to do for fear that I might screw that up, and end up with a fancy doorstop instead of a MS.

Well, today I finally did the upgrade and - lo and behold - my MS was still operational!! I loaded in my old MSQ file, tweaked a few settings, changed the "Boost Control Pin" in the Boost Control Settings to OUTPUT2, turned on the car and...got this error "Conflict with additional injectors PT2/4". WTF does that even MEAN?!. The only way to get rid of this error is to not use OUTPUT2 as the boost control signal. BUT the real BOOST output is not working, so I'm screwed.

So, does anyone know what this configuration error means? And (more importantly) how can I use OUTPUT2 - or any other output signal - to control the solenoid?

Some other weird things that happen when I try to use OUTPUT2 as the Boost Control Pin;
- The RPMs show as 65xxx (a big number) and the car will crank, but not start
- The fuel pump will prime itself three times after I turn the key on

Obviously OUTPUT2 is doing "something else" besides just sitting around doing nothing. Searches have turned up a very few people encountering the same error, but they all seem to be using DIYPNP's, and there either was no fix, or something that was DIYPNP-specific.

Ok, so I've done the following;
- Re-tested the BOOST output using Test I/O Mode and - lo and behold - it seems to be working now!
- Removed any usage of OUTPUT2 as the Boost Control Pin - and am now using the BOOST signal
- Went "whole hog" and enabled Boost Control for Closed Loop, Advanced mode (Why? Because I can!)
- Set the Boost Target Table to 170 kPa @WOT

Result, from this morning's log...NFG...boost pressure sails past 170 as if the actuator is not even opening! I'm not even getting an oscillation. I've got a 10 psi actuator in place, and it ain't even opening up. It's as if the solenoid is staying closed.

Next step; back off of Closed Loop EBC control and go to Open Loop - see what happens there

Well, I backtracked to Open Loop, and that went well. I was able to get the boost control to get to the desired target without any hiccups. After I discovered why I wasn't getting anywhere before (I had the whole table bass-akwards) it all fell into place.

So, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I jumped straight over to Closed Loop. Of course, with my just having a lowly MSPNP2, I don't have the luxury of a Bias Table, or an Initial Value Table, but I'm jumping into the deep end...settings are set, tables are configured. I just need time to make some pulls to see just how bad my first cut is.
