Default Crap Serial --> USB Converter ?

I get this error message and the dials are all flashing as if its losing and gaining the connect really quickly....

All I have done is remove the fuse and plug the PnP in, the engine was not running (despite the RPM reading)

As I say I just took it out of the box and plugged it in. Is it likely the flash failed when it was made?

Generally that error message is caused by different code in the MS than what is provided in the vehicle profile. Call DIY, they'll fix you up.

I still thinking its the serial converter, I've got access to another one tomorrow so I'll try that.

I bought an identical usb to serial cable and it does the EXACT same thing.. Won't read my LC1 wideband OR megasquirt. Waste of 4$. lol.

Have you found a cheap one that does work?

The DIY autotune one obviously works well and it's relatively cheap. You can find it elsewhere online as well. I think Fry's might carry it.
I use the expensive radioshack one because i needed it bad and it's really long so that helps my situation. It's like $40 though, so def not cheap. The RS one has been perfect since i bought it. Not everyone has this experience though.

The one DIY sells is the USB 2920, available at Fry's or through Jerry. He's said in the past that he's had trouble with every USB -> serial adapter except that one.

I've tried it with my dads and it works fine, so borrowing that from him for a while.
