Wow........
|
certainly looks better than the hack jobs you guys usually post. :crx:
any info to pricing/availability/feature set? |
dunno, he txted me the picture....im sure they make an announcement soon, or whenever he calls me later today ;)
|
hehe I feel special knowing someone has this :D
|
ooo...pretty.
Scott, when are you going to do a writeup on how to wire it up :) |
wow, freaking baddass
|
its got the wrong processor though but i'll let it fly by just for this one, lol...
|
Bill from miataroadster.com is working on a group buy right now with them, they're just ironing out the details (like what sensors should be included, yet still affordable), I voted for knock sensor, btw. I don't want to divulge any prices since it's not official yet but I'll be on that list. :)
|
THE...question is, did he drive there on it?!
|
That's awesome. Looks good to me. I had no idea that the adaptation of the stock ECU connector would require a daughterboard style setup like that.
What is the extra connector on the side for? Is it for power, IAT, extra power, usb? I'm out of ideas. |

Now, while I have to release this unit as for off road/racing use only as there is no way to get something like this EPA approved.... Of course I had to drive on it up to the MegaSquirt meet! It handled the 500 mile trip with ease. And then we threw it on the Mustang dyno this morning, with the AFM deleted this time, and made two pulls making 108.x whp and 98.x wtq on both passes. The car is a bone stock '91 1.6l with the exception of the MS and AFM delete, clutch, wheels and tires. Not bad at all. Especially for a 'heartbreaker' dyno like a Mustang. So guys-- I know it's been a long time coming... but I'm really excited that it's here... First units will ship May 11th. I've got a a bunch of information and a few more pics for you here: www.megasquirtpnp.com Check it out.... |
you gained that much on a bone stock car...holy shit.
How many miles are on it? Any idea of price brackets for this thing? lol |
Jerry, very promising.
I'm also in gwinnett, and am very interested in this setup. Would you guys be interested in putting one in my car? I have a 91 with an intercooled turbo fueled by an FMU. But I have been itching to get another ecu, I have a set of RCEng 440 injectors ready to go. I also have an LC1 installed. Car has previously had an EMU and Link, but no wiring was butchured up. Also, is it possible to upgrade the MAP sensor to the model with barometric correction? Ben

The site said around $700.
Man that is nice. Definitely going to get more people into megasquirt this way. |
sweet 108 mustang whp is like 118 dyno jet WTF it is almost to good to be true link never made that much hp in NA basic install i am seriusly impressed. :D
|
awesome, really really slick setup.
|
I'm emailing you. I'd like to get in on the first run or these.
|
Damn, I like this, will it work with 99+ cars though?
|

Very nice!
|
Wow, that is awesome! I'm assuming it allows enough room to fit an MS2 processor for down the track?

What about one for 99+?
|
just got off the phone with Lars....he's saying this thing is 2000% more than he ever expected, and he'll have more pics later.
Full ECU replacment and everything works; a/c, fans, idle, etc. all for $700, that's pretty insane... actually, just the fact that Hustler will finally buy something is the icing on the cake. |
Man that is sweet, they've got something going for them for sure.
That connector also looks just like the 3 plug multilock connector my '99 uses in the ECU. |

*applause*
|
oh yeah, i think he said they are also buying a 94-97
|
First of all I want to say it was great meeting Jerry, Matt, and I believe Justin from DIY. They were all great guys and knew what they were doing.
There were alot of cars their of all makes and models. I was pleasantly surprised with the turn out and variety of cars. The best HP number I saw was 320+ on a 4cylinder mustang running something like 23psi on a t32 turbo. Now to get to the PNP MegaSquirt. It was an amazing piece of hardware. From looking at it it is well worth the 700$ that are guessing it will be sold out at. The install directions that they have posted are exactly all you need to do to get it to work. I think it will be the easiest Standalone install out there. As for the 94-95 PNP Squirt, they said it is on its way and should hopefull be done soon. They need to get a 94 or 95 miata to do all the testing on before it is released. Over all the brief time I spent with them was very informative. I would have loved to have stayed longer and hung out with all the MS people there. I think the best thing I saw all day was when Ken said he was just going to go write some code for MS for the Chevy engine they were palying with. |
will the separate harness adapter kit be made available?
|
Anyone want to buy a fully ready MS1 v3.0?
|
when do you accept order or reservation deposit on this ms1pnp? im ecited,
|
If this thing is truly going to be PnP, ie. unplug stock ECU, plug in MS, turn key... I wonder what will happen to the price of a new Link in the next few months considering it makes about 10 more rwhp for less than 1/2 price.
|
1.6 FM Link has already been discontiuned.
G3 is out at 1100 retail, but their group buy is 20% off. |
akaryrye no the PNP harness will not be sold on its own. It is very much built into the box and enclosure so selling them individually would be harder to do then building your own boomslang harness.
castillejos2000 Jerry said hopefully May 11th will when they officially released. They still have a few more things to iron out before it is finished. Samnavy I think over all prices of other standalones will stay the same for the time being. The reason I think that is simply because places like FLying Miata can taylor maps to each individual person while I dont think DIY will go that far. They will offer the stock map and you are on your own for most other tuning. It will ultimately be take to much man power for DIY to figure out maps for each individual application. FM just has a whole lot more time and experience in that area. This might change in the future though so we will see. Overall I think MS being PNP will put alot of pressure on other stand alones out there. Unless you need a specific feature that the tec3 or hydra offers that MS dosent have there is really no reason now not to go with MS. |
Jerry at DIYAutoTune.com and I are still working out the logistics, so stay tuned, but FYI...
So he can focus on development of the 94-97 unit (the one I've been waiting for!), MiataRoadster.com will be coordinating a limited group buy on Jerry's behalf to get word of mouth going on this amazing tuning tool. There will be a limit on participants (TBD) and it will be 1st come/1st paid/1st served. If seriously interested, email me @ Bill@MiataRoadster.com and I'll post updates as we get closer to the 5/11/07 release date. Thanks, Bill |

Jerry showed this to me when I picked up my kit at the DIY shop. It has been hard trying not to spill the beans.

Jerry and the DIY guys are top notch. I hope they sell a billion of these things.

Are the outputs different for MS2 compared to MSnSE, because that would require changes to the PnP PCB would it not.

I bet this will sell well in the autocross and racing communities once word gets out, since theres a billion 1.6 miatas running around at tracks and autocrosses around the country.

Bill I'm in need of some parts from your site but I had some questions. Are you able to get on AIM?
I look forward to helping you! Bill |

Here is a thought, does the MS PnP play nice with ABS equipped cars?
|
Our test cars are not ABS equipped, but ABS is a different computer so it should not be an issue-- if someone with ABS wants to bring one by for a test that would be fine....
|
I better not volunteer...I might leave $700 poorer.
|
if only i made it down this weekend, coulda tested mine....

Can`t wait for the release of this PNP box! My eventual plans are to go FujiRacing IRTB but for now I want to remove the AFM on my 1.6NA and learn how to tune the MS.
From what I understand I will need are a GM IAT sensor, a CLT sensor and a wide band 02 sensor. It seems the INNOVATIVE wide band controller w/02 sensor (wb-lc1-3769 - $199) is a good option but which of the GM IAT and CLT sensors should I use or is there only one type? Sorry for the newbie questions but I just want to make sure I`m buying the correct parts. TIA!! |
everything you need to know is on their website. the sensors are cheap enough from DIY to where there is little or no incentive to source them on your own. I thought you only needed the intake temp sensor and the MS uses the miata coolant temp sensor.
I've been a proponent of the LC1, but it looks like my 2nd one took a crap tonight. Probably just really bad luck, but it's not cool to have 2 go bad within a year. |
I believe that if you use the miata coolant sensor, you have to use the easy therm program. With the gm one you don't. I have the gm one, but not sure where to plumb it into the coolant stream.
|
get the open element GM IAT. you don't need a clt sensor.
oh wait, you're going NA, in that case, buy my closed element sensor i never used. $10. |
I see, no need for the coolant sensor, and the GM IAT would be this one --> GM Open Element IAT Sensor with Pigtail?

I emailed you, but still no reply. I assume that you are really busy, but I want to get in on this asap.
|
They said open for forced induction, closed for na. OR if you are going to go FI at some point, go ahead and get the open.

Strange-- all emails should have been responded to by now for sure-- we get to those daily Mon-Fri, often within minutes. We were out last Friday, but caught up on Monday so we should have gotten back to you for sure. Shoot it out to us again in case it didn't make it and we'll get back to you on it. |
