Default Hard Crank and lost sync (?)

Attached some log files and a video,

Sync lost reason: 31,32

31 = Miata 99-00 - 2 cams not seen
32 = Miata 99-00 - 0 cams seen

Crank video:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/imbqy9p14o...crank.mp4?dl=0

The problem is only when cranking, when the engine will start it will run normally.

It is a 97 miata with a VVT engine and an adapter harness from the crank and cam sensors to the CAS original harness.

Thanks
Elior

In the log you've shown the battery voltage goes down to 6 volt during cranking. I would start there. Why is the megasquirt seeing so much less than we see in the video?

The video is after a battery charge, it goes to about 10-9v at crank, the sync lose I see in the log is the cause in my opinion - what can I do/check ?

Thanks

Just like I said in your build thread:

"is your battery healthy"

The answer is no, no it is not. MS is really finicky about having a good battery. 10V is not enough, itneeds to be a solid 12V, like 12.5, not 11.99, etc.

Just humor me and jump the car with another battery or car.

I will jump it asap.

While cranking battery voltage will drop to around 9-10v this is normal I have my customers crank logs show the same but no hard crank and no sync lose...

SOLVED

The crank sensor was too close to the trigger wheel.
