Default Megasquirt compatibility?

A friend of mine is offering me his built mega squirt for 300.00. It has launch control, spark, and a bunch of other extras. The only problem is it was built for a ford probe. Is this particular box worth my time? what are the differences & what would need to be changed? Thanks for the help

Ok well theres a few things you need to know about it before you can make an informed decision.

1. Megasquirt has a few different hardware versions: MS1 v.2.2, MS1 v.3.0, and MSII. There are no vehicle specific versions and most people have 3.0 for the miata. 2.2 will work and MsII has issues with controlling spark.

2. Many of the options you mentioned come with megasquirt standard, but requires different firmware (firmware is basically a file loaded onto the device to tell a processor how to act toward different inputs). Spark control will require minor modifications which are well documented and easy to do if you can hold a soldering gun and have a little bit of patience.

Basically you need to know if any modifications have been made to the board physically and repair if necessary.

keep in mind you can get a brand new v3 board for 330. if this is a 2.2, hes tryin to rip you off.
