MS crank signal help please...
First off, I do not know much about MS.
I am asking for help for a friend who is trying to install ms into a European Spec '93 MX5, with little to no luck, so far.
He had a hell of a time trying to get the correct ECU pinouts for that specific model.
Apparently, nothing matched the US version as far as pinouts go.
Now, there is a no start problem.
He told me that even though he could verify the crank signal on a scope, the MS would refuse to see that signal.
He seems to have figured a workaround for that, now the ms tells him the engine is rotating at 1 (one) rpm at cranking.
He is using a SMD board.
Here is the info he gave me:
D1 & D2
XG1 to XG2
TachSelect to OPTIN
TSEL to OPTOUT
pull up circuit built with jumpers.
msq and msl files are attached.

You mean, he should check and verify both signals are there?
Sorry, like I said, I am pretty MS ignorant. Never delved into it so far.
So, please excuse any stupid questions.

Yes, I think that the CMP (g) signal is missing. In fact, I just went back and re-read your first message:
All of that describes the primary trigger input (CKP or Ne) however there's no mention of a secondary input.
Can you give us a clear photograph of the top and bottom of the board?
Or, just look at pin 11 of the CPU as well as terminal JS8. If neither of those have a wire / capacitor / resistor going over to one of the spare pins on the DB37, that guarantees that the second-trigger modification is missing.
