So I've finally graduated (Sept), gotten married (Oct), and have some time to do car stuff since I won't start job hunting until January 2014.

I have a 1.6, but have a 1.8 in my backyard that I'll probably eventually build. The parts I've collected are in my sig, nothing installed. Is there any reason for me to upgrade to a MS2 or MS3 now, or just run MS1 until the engine upgrade?

What are the main advantages or disadvantages I will face w/ MS1 vs the others? Unfortunately, I built my harness and mods over 4 years ago for parallel install and don't remember any reason why I did what I did. Also, I didn't install it. On top of all that, it seems like all MS1 material is out of date and links are broken.

Top level - as you go up in MS version, you get support of added features and additional resolution of fuel and timing curves. Early MS versions wouldn't support high current injectors and had some limitations in ignition. This is probably a question best asked on the MS boards - include the details of what MS1 version you have.
