MS3 or MS2 Enhanced
Hey all,
Preparing to pull the trigger on one or the other- and I know enough to be dangerous, but not sure about a couple of things. The extra $100 for the 3 is not a concern, but if I don't need to spend it- I won't.
~SD Card seems like a great idea (MS3 basic)
~No Barometric sensor on MS3. Seems like this would be helpful as I change altitude often
~Immobilizer- I don't think I care (MS2 e)
~EGT- also don't know that I care (MS2 e)
~Clutch, Neutral, and Brake switch (MS2 e)- seems like this is helpful, but I don't really know what I would do with it
~Boost Switch (MS2 e) - Not sure I need this
~Missing AC and PS control on MS3 basic- is this important?
~ Water Injection and Limp control (MS3 Basic) seem interesting
I understand this is a lot of questions, and I have done quite a bit of reading here, but I want to make sure that I make the best decision. It seems like the 2 products each have benefits and disadvantages.
As for my Miata- it is a 1999 with a Jackson M45 currently. I just purchased the car and while I may well move to a turbo, it is not my top priority at the moment.
I have owned a BEGI series 3 in the past, tuned with a link, so the MS looks like a pretty easy transition.
I am working on the ECU now so that I can maximize the JR setup, but also have the ability to move to a turbo in the future.

~SD Card seems like a great idea (MS3 basic) Oh yes, very easy logging
~No Barometric sensor on MS3. Seems like this would be helpful as I change altitude often -> It can be added if you ever need it but most folks don't, even when they chance altitude.
~Immobilizer- I don't think I care (MS2 e) -> Me neither, but might be in the works on MS3
~EGT- also don't know that I care (MS2 e) -> Me neither, but it can be added if you ever need it
~Clutch, Neutral, and Brake switch (MS2 e)- seems like this is helpful, but I don't really know what I would do with it -> It's used for launch control for instance. MS3 has this as well.
~Boost Switch (MS2 e) - Not sure I need this -> MS3 has this as well
~Missing AC and PS control on MS3 basic- is this important? MS3 has perfect AC control, and I haven't had the need for PS control but YMMV
~ Water Injection and Limp control (MS3 Basic) seem interesting -> I like limp control

Other than good support from Reverant, I don't see an advantage in the MS2e. The big disadvantage is its custom hard- and firmware. You will not be able to upgrade to MS3 afterwards.
Is MS2e supported on Android?

I am also building the MS3 as well.
A/C support is not perfect on the MS3. There are still issues that need to be resolved for perfect A/C on the MS3.
P/S idle-up may not be important to everyone - I live in city where parallel parking in tight spots is the norm. During night, where you also have headlights and/or other loads, the P/S load mayt easily throw the closed-loop off.
Clutch and neutral switch are used for closed loop idle and overrun fuel cut (not on the MS3).
The MS3 does not do true boost by gear (up to 6 different boost levels on the Enhanced MS2) and scramble boost.

with all that being said, I wouldn't stick with MS2, myself, even if an Enhanced by God unit.
