Also dropped a socket e tension down cylinder 1 and confirmed things looked right. Managed to finally find the timing marks so highlighted them with a little white-out and they look to be in the correct location so I'm not worried about the damper.
The timing light is still calling me a liar so not sure where to go from here.
Base timing was probably set close to 14 degrees so it should fire, it's just ...not. You can see a couple of pops in the composite so it's doing something, just not when we want it to
