Default MS3X no IAC - problem solved!

Can't get the IAC valve working on my '99.
I'm using the idle out (db37 pin 9) on the MS3X.
Do I need to activate that output somewhere in TS?
I built the 'normal' fidle circuit on the V3, thus Q20, Q4, R39 and D8.

idle shoudl be set to "idle" not "fidle" iirc.

Why did you build the 'normal' idle circuit if you're using the one on the MS3X?

Good question, that I asked myself as well. I did it because of this sentence in step 26 of the MS3 build manual:
ii) PWM Idle Valve:
Note! This is not required with the MS3X card - use one of the mid-current outputs on the MS3X card for you idle valve and fit the standard components Q4, Q20, R39, D8.
So I fitted the standard components and used the MS3X idle output.
In the idle control menu, I selected Valve mode Normal, output port 'idle', 390Hz.
Do I need to activate PP2-Idle under Output port settings as well?
Other outputs work fine (tacho, fan, vics etc).

Dammit someone PLEASE unblock Belgium. Surfing the board is one thing, but trying to get something posted is another.

/rant

I don't need to add these jumpers, do I?
a) JS0 to IAC1A
b) JS1 to IAC1B
c) JS2 to IAC2A
d) JS3 to IAC2B

if you're using the expander idle pin, just run that to your idle pin on the harness connector.

you have 12V power to the idle valve in addition to the above?

i see your msq is set to pwm warmup and 390Hz on "idle" output. so that's ok.

did you power cycle after setting these?

Made a stupid mistake. The idle output was working all along, except that it's working in a completely different range. I did do the idle valve test, but never tried anything over 50% not to overrev the (cold) engine. I let it warm up today and raised duty some more and sure enough, the valve came to life .
On my MS2, for 800rpm I needed about 20% duty. Now I need 60% duty. Under that, no reaction. Changing the valve freq doesn't seem to make a difference (nor noise).

Closed loop doesn't yet want to cooperate, no matter what I do, the idle just hangs there, with the closed loop indicator on. Need to play with it some more.

Seems there's a couple of new interesting things to play with, like VSS .
