The damaged pins have nothing to do with loading the firmware - they seem to have been the result of a faulty injector driver.

? so this isnt my fault possibly? I geus the baord is still a right off but i feel better about telling my buddy his **** is destroyed knowing it was just a faulty component. Where on the baord do i have to check for the injector driver?

And scot if that is old then they should update that shiz, i was only doing what i could find to do.
If this turned out to be a faulty injector driver atleast it didnt go out on my buddy while he was driving the car and lunch his motor, or cause a fire. Im still going to split the cost of a replacement with him it is only fair since he left the car in my care.

The only other possibility I can think of is a faulty wiring harness - one that's wired those pins straight to an unfused 12 volt source.

The unit and harness were perfectly fine until Magna got his Brutish hands on it.

I agree with Matt, something shorted out something on one half of the injector outputs...did you have the board open and exposed when you were fussing around with it?

The pins that got hot are a ground signal...the only way that could happen is if 12v got applied to them.

On that harness, he has a dangling 12v wire hangout out of it...is it possible this hit the case of the MS? Like when did you notice the harness starting to melt down?

i had the case away from the harness we where doing a tranny tunnel mount on the unit. the meltdown happened when i tried to flash firmware i had the unit on powered on and off several times before that trying to get it to communicate before that with no incident. Is the 12 V wire one of the spares you had in the harness i beleive i taped them all up before i stuffed everything under the panel and bolted it down.
