What is needed to improve crank signal on 96 engine

What is needed to improve crank signal on 96 engine
I'm currently running MS3X on 93 miata, 96 engine, and 93 CAS. I want to run sequential fuel and improve the scatter I get in my rpm gauge at high rpms. I have done a search and it appears most people are using 99 cam and crank position setup.
From researching I thought i could use a 99 crank sensor and FM 36-2 wheel, but I am unsure what is required for the CMP signal since I don't have a 99 head. I also have the CAS from the 96 engine if it is helpful. Any input on a good setup for crank position and cam for this setup would be appreciated.

You could mod the CAS to give one pulse per revolution.
