Will the Stim work without the RPM pot?

Currently looking for a variable resistor pot to use as a VTPS and looking at the pots on the stim, they look ideal, have a flat on them etc. As we dont use the RPM pot due to our ignition system, can I just remove it or.......?

I'm pretty sure it'll work without the rpm pot.
