Wish I knew this before, I've been to Victoria twice and my wife has status with the airlines. That means we can check 3 70# bags for free, I am going to bring crappy clothes and toss them next time.

She does business there sometimes, we may get to go again. I will definitely fill my bags with 3.63 R&P's to the weight limit.

Hell, might even be worth it to pay for extra baggage!

Would installing these gear into an open diff turn it into Torsen ? Or are these mainly being installed into existing Torsen ?

if you want a torsen you need to get one, the ring gear bolts on to whatever diff you have

It just makes 1st gear usable in a 6 speed, instead of only for towing up a steep grade.

This is so ******* true. I have the 3.63 in my track car now and I keep getting confused when I get in and 1st is somewhat drivable. Before I would always start in second and completely ignore first.

These gears would go into an open differential, but it would stay an open differential. The only thing they would change is the gear ratio.

Some of the torsen ratio differentials often go for less than the others depending on what things are like around you. It's possible to get whatever it is you find near you that's cheap and a proven torsen and then swap this ratio in if that's your longer term goal anyway.

If you have questions on how to tell a torsen from an open differential, there are a few good write ups on miata.net.

Hmm .. guess it was noob enough a question to be considered trolling. LOL. Appreciate the knowledge though. Thanks.

I have one 3.63 set in stock guys and i can ship ASAP at same price 450$ shipped.

Also if you are interested I have in stock two sets of 3.72 ring and pinion for 350$ shipped, from 6spd NC. It fits perfectly in the NB case but you will need some spacers for the perfect adjustment.

These dudes may have hurt the demand. I suspect if they keep up with demand used 3.6s will be in the $300s. I could be completely wrong as well.

Nice I wonder what the Top speeds in each gear would be with a 3.3 on a 6spd. Might be a bit to tall for a Peaky 1.8 motor though.

I thought the purpose of lower gears was top end, not acceleration?

FPM, there are like 5 of those units left. I doubt that the blip is going to do anything to affect prices of the 3.6. Unless they're something that are in constant supply anyway.

On a stock miata... sure.

You can accelerate plenty fast if you have the HP to back it up.
