cast manifold
#205
Now that folks have had a chance to use these for a little while, have there been any issues with the nuts backing off the flange at the head connection? I noticed that he doesn't have a spotface, and these are sand cast, which usually means that the flange is drafted on both sides. Without spotfacing the surface where the nut sits, the nut would be sitting on an angled surface...which is generally considered a cardinal sin for bolted joints. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I friggin love mine, by far the nicest parts on my car. I have the full 3" exhaust and it sounds just ridiculously good. A hint of rasp, but not too raspy. Quiet cruising around, but sounds pretty mean at idle and really mean at WOT. Spools my 2860 super quick and makes better power on 5psi than my old sr20 t25 did on ~8

I have been running a full t25 manifold, 2.5" downpipe which necks up to a full 3" right after the shelf and the entire exhaust exhaust for about ten thousand miles now. Zero issues to report to do with any of the Kraken hardware. The DP is a snug fit but doesn't hit anything at all and the exhaust has plenty of clearance all around and the vbands are just a fantastic convenience.
My exhaust only has a muffler at the rear that has virtually zero drone which genuinely surprised me. It's definitely on the louder side but I daily drive it and it doesn't bother me or any of my passengers and i haven't been bothered by the police at all even when WOT.(Off topic, do cops ever bother anyone in miatas?) I would debate putting in a resonator just to take the edge off for my neighbors sakes.
The overall build quality of all of these components is very evident to me and I am very interested in picking up a 1.8 manifold and DP in the future.

I've had issues with my build so don't have a ton of drive time on the setup. I did find everything to be very well made, although the exhaust was a bit loud for my taste. I do prefer much quieter exhausts that only wake up under hard acceleration or WOT so that's my schtick. He does, however, now offer exhausts that come with resonators as well as a magnaflow muffler which he didn't when I bought it. If I was getting this now, I would have 100% gone this route. I did have my setup modified for a big maggie and I love it even more now. I just wish I could have gotten it from Kraken like that because his welds are far prettier than the local exhaust shops booger welds. I would also have preferred to support him with my $$$.
I'd buy from him again no questions asked. He's doing a lot of cool stuff and honestly really seems to care about making sure that folks that buy from him are happy with things. I can't believe he doesn't sell in higher volume! I think he's made a lot of little tweaks over time to improve fit and make things easier to install.
