Installing this reroute setup tonight. I've read about putting thread paste on the bolts so I'll be doing that. Any other good practices for a good reliable seal?

What way does these gaskets with the adhesive go? Adhesive against the spacer or adhesive against the head/thermostat housing??

I wouldn't expect there to be any difference which side the adhesive goes on. I swapped out to these gaskets to help those that are installing while the motor is still in the car. It should work just like any other gasket seal. Make sure all surfaces are clean and dry.

Whenever I install coolant reroute spacers, I use RTV along with the gaskets. It is the only way I have gotten them to consistently not leak. I do RTV on the kia water neck, then gasket, then RTV, then spacer, then RTV, then gasket, then RTV, then bolt the spacer to the head. It is a PITA but seems to work.

I didn't use RTV the first time I did a water pump job. I ended up with coolant pouring out...
Never again...

I have installed this reroute spacer on my car (2003) last week end. I had to file down the nipple on the back of the head quite a bit to have enough room to install the hose and the clamp. Having the spacer taller by 3-4mm would have made the install a lot easier. I also had a leak after the install, when I removed the spacer I noticed that the thermostat moved during the install and was not sitting in the groove machined in the spacer. I put a bit of rtv in the groove to "glue" the thermostat and had no leak after I reinstalled it.

Thanks to your input, our next batch of reroute spacers will be 1/8" thicker than the previous release. We will refer to these as the v2 in an effort to not confuse the two.

Wait, wouldn't thicker make it harder for them to be installed? Are you elongating the clamping area for the hose as well?

Any chance that an uninstalled spacer can be sent back for a swap?

Easier to install because it'll clear Satan's Nipple.

If it's thicker, no reason to elongate the tubey thingymabobber section. Stock Kia waterneck will work fine.

I'll take a V2 reroute kit when you have more in stock.

Lack of a response I'm guessing means a collective no?

Hey guys - I didn't forget about you!

I got into a new (to me) car that has taken a few days to iron out details on, so I apologize for my truancy.

In an effort for this to not get out of control, I'm going to put a hard date on requests for exchanges for this Friday May 12th, 2017 at 5:00pm. Please send an email to hawleyperformance@gmail.com with you request so that it doesn't get missed. Please include your username from this forum as a reference, if you don't mind.

The spacer to be returned must be in new unused condition in order to be eligible for this exchange.

Please ship the spacer to:
Hawley Performance #219
7380 S Olympia Ave
Tulsa, OK 74132

We will send an invoice for the return shipping once we process the request. It will likely be a $5 charge for shipping.

Email sent as well. I'll send things back when I get a response because I had a different question in there as well.

Thanks!
