Default does this mean im running rich

so i took my miata out for another test drive and a friend of mine followed me. he told me that when i going full throttle black smoke would flow out from the exhaust. running rich im guessing the car felt pretty good i can tell there a massive lost in bottom end because i had to retard that motor. all im running is vortech for fuel management 12:1, stock injectors.. i have bipes on the way and i already have 305cc in my room all i need to get is a intercooler piping set up for my car.. i already have the intercooler (the one that stipes kit uses). to bad stripes doesnt sell his piping anymore
heres some pics

black smoke in boost is a very easy indicator...turn up the boost to compensate

Is 12:1 the stock disc?
Are you on the stock fuel pump.

If you're on the stock pump, stock injectors, and stock disc... then running rich like that is kinda weird.

I'd get a fuel pressure gauge and see what your pressure is under boost... and now is the time for LC-1, only $190 and worth every penny.

That an interesting uh.. crossover tube? Why go down to the bottom of the engine bay and back up w/out an intercooler in there? Trying to shed heat through the piping?
