We're currently in possession of a 2006 MX-5 (customer vehicle) and just a few nights ago we picked up our own NC (white sport package).
With the success of our previous NA/NB EFR/Garrett V-Band Side Mount turbo system we've decided to repeat the process on the NC platform. These will NOT be entry level, will NOT be mild steel budget kits that simply "work", we've set out to produce a premium kit with top quality components at a price that wont break the bank. Full stainless, schedule construction that flows inside as good as it looks on the outside. All three of the first vehicles will be using the EFR 6758 V-Band Internally Gated, Internal BOV turbocharger. The 2006 is a 2.5 swapped car, we've designed the flange with larger ports to accommodate each 2.0L and 2.5L with the maximum flow - with 1/2" Stainless construction. Today's updates:
The last NA/NB manifold order has been fulfilled and now we're full steam ahead on the NC's. Turbo of choice for the first 4 kits is going to be the EFR 6758 from BorgWarner. We've decided to use their new full Aluminum supercore. They weigh considerably less, have better cooling properties and won't rust like the previous iron counterparts. The 6758 will produce power VERY quickly on a 2.0L and as you'd expect a 2.5L swapped NC will be even more responsive. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1441931994 We're finally happy with the flange design and will have a production version in our hands within 24 hours. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1441931994 The first customer car has already been turbocharged with a kit he's not satisfied with - This is where our completely stock NC will come in handy for all of the small bits that we could have never anticipated without it (relocation of the battery, cooling components, stock air box). At some point I'm sure the customer will communicate who produced the existing kit but until then I'll focus on producing a superior product.

Man, a 2.5 swap with a well breathing EFR6258 setup would probably result in LSx-like lowend torque

I really hope not. There is absolutely no reason not to use the OEM ecu

Tearing down the old system we've found a number of issues.
The turbo itself is wearing into the engine mount: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1442261044 This is his second Garrett turbo in less than 5k miles and we believe it's because of the oil supply and return line positions. We will have to find better locations for them. The WG to manifold connection looks to be broken clean off or was a very poorly designed slip joint that was leaking, not a very conventional way of handling a pressure area responsible for controlling boost: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1442261044 |

We're waiting on tooling for the flange, in the mean time we've dusted off the old 3D printer and produced a PLA version and it's truly a work of art.

I specifically purchased an NC2 (2009 and later, purportedly has stronger rods and 6spd manual trans) for boost. I first saw this over on m.net and then saw it again here, and have fired off an email to Fab9 to see if I can qualify to get in on the early adopters list.
I'm excited about the choice of turbo on this kit, and I'm also looking for specifically a serious business (TM) level of power from the stock internals. And if I blow my shit up, I'll just have to rebuild with better parts and go again :D Currently, the car roadmap is:
