If this turns out well I will be selling my NB and buying a PRHT Club edition as soon as I possibly can.

Very nice! I wasn't aware. I've always hated NC's but after this thread....I find them a bit more attractive.

Just a quick update - we're testing some end tank designs on the Vibrant core. Should have a finalized setup this weekend. The production version will include internal baffling for even distribution of air (often a fault of top inlet/outlet intercoolers).
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1443202912 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1443202912 There has been a lot of chatter around pricing and we're confident it will still remain at a competitive price point. I'd like to outline that the most expensive (and most important) part of the system is the EFR turbocharger itself. This is a bit like shopping for a PC, you'll pay more for a powerful processor but I assure you, you wont regret it. |

Small update - Things with the machine shop have been further delayed but we aren't letting that hold us back. We are producing a few of our own to cover the pre-production kits.
This is just the Water Jet blank that will be setup on the CNC tonight for the 3D/2.5D features of the design. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1444340834 A quick shot of the turbo comparison - Left: EFR 6758, Right: GT30R https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1444340834 Two more customers were added to the pre-production list and our latest BorgWarner order showed up today - 6x 6758's ready to make some very powerful NC's. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1444340834 |
Can you post a picture looking straight down the core to show the additional fins or turbulators? Thanks |
I wouldn't mind a 500hp intercooler for an NA with AC. But this is cool too I guess

It came out just as beautiful as we anticipated.. 10 more on the way and we will have a completed, repeatable manifold this week.

With the completion of the flanges, we're pulling 10 hour days to satisfy the donor vehicle deadline. Quickly following that, our bone stock NC will be used for pre-production sold kits and jigging. Each will be jigged to ensure compatibility between the 2.0 and 2.5 swapped vehicles, if we see major differences we will make adjustments accordingly.

There will now be a dedicated menu system for NA/NB/NC/ND, starting with the NC. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445006271 |

After determining proper placement we're now full speed ahead! - Spending enough time with eyes on this setup, it's incredible that we were able to achieve clearance in EVERY dimension without modification to the vehicle or sacrificing the design. The last thing we want is to ask an end user to trim their engine bay, grind their engine mounts or bend lines (nearly all of these were done during the installation of this previous turbo kit, and it was still hitting the engine mounts).
As stated before the most important aspects of this manifold were to achieve a full flowing collector and zero awkward kinks in the schedule elbows. CHECK. These limitations left us with a very unique piece of artwork that will flow just as good as it looks. Keep in mind this piece is only tacked up - none of the colorful tig welding magic has happened yet but we're thrilled to be able to update you soon. We've modified the flange to allow easy installation with the studs installed. You can see here the far stud location is now open: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1445978294 |
Arousing. And I don't even like NCs.

Great work. |

This would be great to see. I haven't purchased a vibrant cored intercooler yet since there seems to be no evidence of their 25% increase in fin density. Staggered turbulators would make me buy in a heartbeat

Boner alert... What am I doing with my life?

The core density looks better than mine, which I believe is the previous rendition, so that is my 2 cents. Keep up the good work, you are making me very jealous.

This is where the details matter and a good reflection of where your money goes when you invest in our kit over the competitors. We've taken our time producing a jig for the manifold to make these units identical, repeatable, properly backpurged and PRECISE!

Brian,
Everything you've posted is absolutely gorgeous. I'm quite literally saddened that all of this incredibly beautiful work will be hidden under a hood. My father-in-law and two brothers-in-law are genuine car guys, and I've been forwarding your pics along to them. They're all amazed at the attention to detail and fabrication skills involved. Father in law has a 68 Stingray convertable, younger brother-in-law has a hopped up STI, and older brother in law has an LS-swapped 90's 3-series frankenstein of some sort. All three are now chomping at the bit to come down and drive the Miata when it's done :D |
